Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-Def

The best IVs for Jaffar are +Atk and -Def. A +Atk IV helps him deal tons of damage with Life and Death 3. His Atk is a superboon, so you should take advantage of it as much as possible as it gives you +4 bonus stats instead of +3. Taking a -IV in Def would balance his defensive stats which is ideal for survivability so this is the best bane you can take for him. For builds that do not make use of Life and Death 3, we recommend that you go for a +Spd IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

This is a full player phase chip damage build for Jaffar. He might not be able to score the K.O., but he makes it very easy for another ally to finish foes off. With the spec. eff. refine, he deals 20 after combat damage to the primary target, and 34 AoE damage to foes within 2 spaces of the primary target.

How to Use, Explanation

By taking Windsweep 3, and Phantom Spd 3, he will avoid lots of damage in the player phase. Close Counter makes gives him some bite in the enemy phase. If you can afford it, take Close Reversal instead.

How to Use, Explanation

With Close Counter and Vantage 3, Jaffar will have some enemy phase ability. Deathly Dagger and double Savage Blow 3 takes care of his player phase. If he takes the refine, he will be a great chip damage, debuff support. After he attacks, any good offensive allies can easily swoop-in and finish the job. If you can afford it, take Close Reversal instead.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Deathly Dagger

Deathly Dagger's special effect refine is pretty straightforward. It disables counterattacking for tome users. It has no effect against dragonstone and staff units, but the effect of disabling counterattacks from one of the most common unit type in the game is enough to boost his viability.

Jaffar is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Jaffar Strengths

Deal fixed damage to enemy!

Deathly Dagger deals 7 fixed damage to Jaffar's enemy after combat. This damage is fixed and cannot be reduced so Jaffar will have means of dealing damage even against enemies with high Def stats! Upon upgrade, he will be able to deal 10 fixed damage so get that upgrade if you plan to use Jaffar in the long run. Since Jaffar can also inflict debuffs by attacking, he makes it really easy for his allies to take out the enemies that he has weakened.

Take note that damage from Deathly Dagger is not lethal. This is why Jaffar might need another ally to finish up those whom he has weakened.

Access to a weapon upgrades

Jaffar's Deathly Dagger can be upgraded to deal 10 fixed damage instead of 7. The upgrade also makes Deathly Dagger's -7 Def/Res debuff AoE, as it would normally only be inflicted upon the target. Lastly, it can be specially refined to have an effect that prevents tome units from counterattacking Jaffar. This makes him a great match-up against tome units as normally he would not be able to take counterattacks from them because of Life and Death and his naturally low Res stat.

Can max out his offensive stats

Jaffar has the skill Life and Death 3, which grants Atk/Spd +5 and inflicts Def/Res -5. While this will severely affect his defensive capability, this skill can be crucial for high damaging attacks in the player phase.

Jaffar Weaknesses

Cannot take much of a beating

Jaffar has low defensive stats, and that is made even worse when Life and Death 3 is equipped. One hit from an enemy is usually all it will take to eliminate him. Play to his strengths, and move him around so that he can remain out of the foes' reach and avoid enemy attacks.
