Tried this multiple times, before beating the game. You dont need to beat the game or have the speed up function. you dont have to light the flower even on the left meganium can walk behind the tree. It is just luck
There is a faint view of a nest in the tree that might be Hoothoot’s. Maybe try aiming fruit at it…
I found I could reliably get Meganium to walk behind the tree by throwing fluffruits hard to the left (towards the tree) at the second crystabloom. He would turn his head and then follow the fluffruits behind the tree.
It only appears if you have completed the story
Basically on the cliff, to the right there's a patch of grass whose shadow you can see. I just threw an Illumina orb up there and Shaymin appears and comes to the corner to wait.
This didn't work at all...I can't find Shamin either.
This one worked for me... sort of. Even when Meganium spawned in to the right of me, they didn't always go behind the tree. After a few failed attempts with that spawn, I finally decided to throw an Illumina orb at the second Crystabloom like the guide said, and sure enough Meganium went behind the tree. But with that said, I think that the pathing is just random chance.

This tutorial for Meganium's pal didn't work for me. After hours I've come up with a MUCH easier method: 1. Keep retrying level at the beginning until meganium spawns asleep to your right hand side (one of its 3 spawn locations) 2. Touch NOTHING (no flowers, no Shaymin) . This spawn paths it behind the tree automatically. 3. Wait for Meganium to stop for the second time behind the tree. Throw apple into top branches above it 4. Quickly snap meganium as hoothoot drops.
There is a Pokemon missing from your map. If you throw illuma orbs at Meganium when he is asleep at the start and wait till it reaches the 1st flower then Comfey will appear and fly around Meganium for a few seconds.
