How to Get All Stars for Lanturn

How to Take Lanturn 1 Star Photo

Lanturn swimming

To obtain the 1 Star photo of Lanturn, simply snap a close-up photo of Lanturn swimming! It's best to do this as soon as you encounter Lanturn while descending the big hole in the route through the undersea cave.

Don't throw an Illumina orb at Lanturn or it will be chased by a Sharpedo. Also, don't take too long or Lanturn will swim upwards with all the other fish.

Hit Lanturn with a Fluffruit

As you descend into the giant hole in the alternate route of the Undersea course at Research Level 3, you can spot a Lanturn following you down. Hit the Lanturn with a Fluffruit and take a photo as it flinches to get a 2 Star photo.

Doing a Backflip

In the underwater ruins area of the Undersea course at Research Level 3, you can find a Lanturn beside a fallen pillar near the Crystabloom. You need to take a photo of the Pokemon while it is doing a backflip to get a 3 Star photograph.

The moment that Lanturn will do a backflip is seemingly random so you need to be prepared to take the shot at any time. You will know when Lanturn is about to do a backflip if it starts shaking its head from side to side. Because of the randomness of this action, we recommend using Burst Mode when taking this photo.

Escaping the Frillish

You can get this photo while completing the request A Light in the Depths. Click the link for a more detailed walkthrough on how to get this interaction with Lanturn and Frillish.

On the route to the underwater ruins, you will encounter a Lanturn while descending the giant hole. Throw an Illumina orb at it and it will be chased downwards by a Sharpedo. After the Wailord passes by, you will then see the Lanturn being held by 2 Frillish. Throw an Illumina orb at the Lanturn and snap a photo of it when it uses its light to escape the Frillish.

Be sure to be ready to take the photo, as the window for a 4 Star photo is quite limited. Doing it too early or too late will result in a 3 Star photo. It's also better to wait for the Wailmer to pass by before throwing the Illumina orb so that you're assured it won't block your shot.
