Raiden Bosenmori Mei is the true name of Acheron in Honkai: Star Rail. See what else was revealed about Acheron's lore during the 2.2 update here!
During the mission, And on the Eighth Day, Acheron reveals that her real name is Raiden Bosenmori Mei. This fully confirms that Acheron is an expy of Raiden Mei, a character from Hoyoverse's Honkai Impact 3rd including all the other references supporting it.
And on the Eighth Day Mission Guide
While Acheron bears the same name as Raiden Mei from Honkai: Impact 3rd, both characters are entirely different from each other and are from two different worlds but with similar events taking place.
Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd helped Kiana defeat Kevin to save the world, while Acheron faced off against the Bearer of End by herself, and her world was eventually destroyed by IX.
If you're a long fan of the Honkai series, you will know that HoYoverse has placed a lot of references from Honkai Impact 3rd's Raiden Mei in Honkai: Star Rail.
One example can be found in Acheron's Myriad Celestia Trailer, where a part of the song Honkai World Diva can be heard.
A scene that plays out during the Animated Short: Graduation Trip, where Raiden Mei reaches out to Kiana, was also referenced in the Version 2.2's Trailblaze Mission, And on the Eight Day.
The Kyoden: Cleave Across the Transient World trailer reveals that Acheron came from Izumo, one of two planets that orbited around a black sun referred to as the Shadow of IX. One day, Izumo became ravaged by Kami, monstrous beings who solely aim to kill all humans.
The people of Izumo fought back by forging powerful weapons known as the 12 Sentinels, but they eventually broke after many years of struggle. The remnants of these blades were forged into two new ones, Origin and End.
Acheron, as Raiden Bosenmori Mei, wielded Origin and became the sole survivor continuing to fight on Izumo. Upon gazing at the black sun, she realized that this endless battle was meaningless and became a Self-Annihilator who now takes on the name of Acheron.
Although Self-Annihilators tend to degrade or fade away over time, Acheron's strength instead awakened her power as an Emanator of Nihility. With this, she guides the departed souls who become lost in the sea of Nihility to their true afterlife.
In The Devil in Velvet, a cutscene reveals that Acheron killed Duke Inferno of the Annihilation Gang. Acheron wanted to get his invitation to Penacony's Charmony Festival and ultimately had to take him down due to his resistance.
The Devil in Velvet Mission Guide
Acheron wanted to reach out to an actual Galaxy Ranger, so she pretended to be one knowing their elusive nature. Just according to plan, Boothill boards the Astral Express to search for her during Bullet & Brain.
Here, Acheron reveals she ventured to Penacony as a Galaxy Ranger because she wanted to help Tiernan, the Nameless who helped the Galaxy Rangers fight Lord Ravager Zulo, return their relics, and fulfill his last wish of having someone offer flowers to his grave.
