A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant Guide
To get started with Kafka's Companion Mission, respond to Kafka's message. Kafka will tell you that she needs your help. Answer and you will unlock Letter from a Strange Woman Companion Mission.
During the game you play with Kafka during her Companion Mission, you get to ask her two questions. Kafka will answer the questions with a truth then a lie or a lie then the truth.
It may be tough to find out which answers are the truth, so here is a list of all the topics, the questions you can ask Kafka, and Kafka's answers to all of them!
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | You are an artificial body created for the purpose of hosting a Stellaron. From the moment of your birth, it was your destiny to receive the Stellaron at Herta Space Station. Before that task was completed, I was responsible for protecting you, as well as teaching you general knowledge, common sense, and combat skills. The reason why you don’t remember is that I wiped your memory before the operation at Herta Space Station. |
Lie | You?... At first, you were a being accidentally created by an Aeon, with a body but no soul. Elio guided me to you, and you were given a soul. That’s nothing to say about your past. You only remember me because I was the one with you when your soul was born. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | Because you are created for that purpose – your body has been transformed by the power of an Aeon. You are immune to Stellaron contamination. Therefore, you could say that you are a one-of-a-kind Stellaron vessel. |
Lie | The Stellaron in question was modified. After seizing it, Herta conducted a lot of research – it’s the only Stellaron in the universe that doesn’t contaminate humans. As soon as Herta got bored, she forgot about the whole thing, but all her research was recorded in Screwllum’s database. Silver Wolf retrieved it when she hacked into planet Screwllum... And so Elio saw a new future possibility. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | One day, Elio handed you over to me. He said that things continue to transpire according to future possibilities he foresaw, you could eventually change me, and I would change you. In other words, you and I are each other’s destiny. |
Lie | Genetically speaking, you are my child. A quarter of the data that makes up your body comes from me. Of course, neither Silver Wolf, Bladie, nor Sam are well-suited for looking after a child... So the burden of mentoring you fell on me. It was a stressful job, I dumped you on the train as soon as I got a chance. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | I don’t know, Bladie didn’t tell me – he said he doesn’t know either. When he woke up, he didn’t remember anything. Sometime later, a woman found him. She taught him swordplay, then killed him, over and over again, until it was too much for him to bear. Elio ordered Sam and me to find Bladie and return with him. According to Elio, Bladie’s swordplay and immortality have important uses. That’s all I know. |
Lie | He is a long-life species, apparently he was a Sword Champion of the Xianzhou at some point. The Ten Lord Commission planned to execute him, but he managed to escape from Shackling Prison. He was severely injured – he forgot nearly everything. Elio ordered Sam and me to find Bladie and return with him. According to Elio, Bladie’s swordplay and immortality have important uses. That’s all I know. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | Apparently, they used to be good friends... Well, good friends who were bad for each other. Bladie forgot nearly everything, so he doesn’t remember it well. Together, they did something bad – something terrible. It led to horrific consequences. That’s the information I managed to piece together. Bladie refused to tell me the details. |
Lie | Master and disciple, Bladie said that in Dan Heng’s previous life, Dan Heng was his apprentice. Long time ago, several of Blade’s apprentices joined forces to kill him. After his revival, Bladie had forgotten nearly everything, but he remember the night his apprentices killed him. He’ve been searching for the whole universe for those who took his life... To make them pay in blood. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | The old me? I used to be a Devil Hunter. I grew up on a planet contaminated by Stellaron: Pteruges V – “New Babylon”. Humans there don’t know what fear is – the concept itself simply doesn’t exist. When people don’t feel fear, they are dominated by desire and pleasure – they become “devils”. When Elio found me, I was in a middle of a mission... And the condition he offered me caught my interest. |
Lie | The old me? I used to be a Knight of Beauty. We worshipped Idrila, the Aeon of Beauty. We vowed to guard their beauty with the sword, but one day they suddenly disappeared. I lost my faith and was recruited by Elio... That’s how I joined the Stellaron Hunters. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | Because I wanted to change myself. I have no mechanism for “fear”. There is an empty space in my mind and my heart, but I am unable to perceive it. Changing that part of myself isn’t something I can do alone. Elio can help me, if I follow his instructions. |
Lie | Because I have the future that I want. As I told you, Elio is able to glimpse through possibilities. As long as I follow the instructions, he promised to tell me what it would take to move towards the future I wanted. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | No. |
Lie | Yes. |
Kafka's Answer | |
---|---|
Truth | Correct. Very clever. But was it worth sacrificing a question to determine whether the last answer was true or false? Tough to say. |
Lie | Wrong. Very clever. But was it worth sacrificing a question to determine whether the last answer was true or false? Tough to say. |
To proceed with the Companion Mission, you must choose to help Kafka. This will be indicated by the yes
options in your first dialogue with Kafka. If you choose this option, the Companion Mission will play out normally and grant you its rewards after.
If you choose not to help Kafka, the Companion Mission will come to an abrupt end. To do this choice, simply choose the no
options or the leave options multiple times in your first dialogue with Kafka. Once you are prompted to make the final choice, leave her.
If you choose this option, the Companion Mission will end and grant you its rewards immediately. However, you will not be able to experience the Companion Mission fully and the Achievement you obtain will be True Free Will.
If you chose to leave Kafka and you return to the location where Kafka and Blade were, you will find a note from Kafka.
Kafka's Note |
---|
Elio can see the future, but he can't interfere with your choice. We are all "Destiny's Slaves", but I hope you are not. If you really have free will, hold on to it. Reach the ending of the story in your own way. I like you for this. |
After a server reset occurs, you will receive another message from Kafka if you chose not to help her.
Kafka asks for the Trailblazer's help with suppressing Blade's mara. They play a game of truths and lies, where you will be able to find answers that only Kafka has.
Once you answer Kafka's message, head to the Divination Commission and talk to her. Here, you will have two choices that you can choose from. These choices affect the Companion Mission and how it plays out, so choose carefully.
If you decide to help Kafka, she will ask you to clear out the enemies roaming nearby while she deals with Blade's situation.
After listening to Kafka's request, you will see two roaming enemies nearby. Take them on in a battle and return to Kafka to report. Kafka will then ask you to play a game of truths and lies.
Kafka will ask the first question for the game, so you have to answer it. Pick any of the options that you want as this will not affect how the Companion Mission plays out.
Once you are done, Kafka will ask you to get rid of the Cloud Knights that are nearby before continuing with the game.
Talk to the Cloud Knights nearby and you can choose to try and persuade them to leave or just take them out. The easier way would be to take them out since this just involves a short battle between you and the Cloud Knights.
Once finished with the Cloud Knights, go back to Kafka and talk to her to continue the game.
After talking with Kafka, you get to ask your question for her to answer. Pick one of the topics and choose from the questions to proceed. Kafka will then tell you her answer and she will ask you to fight enemies again.
During this point in the Companion Mission, you will have two options. You can take out the enemies as instructed by Kafka or you can prevent the battles from happening. Preventing the battle is purely optional and fighting the enemies outright is faster.
If you choose to fight the battles, head back to Kafka after you fight the enemies. If you choose to prevent the battles, you must solve a puzzle for both the gate and an Aurumaton nearby.
The gate's puzzle is simple and is just Abacus Circuitry. Once you solve it, head to the Aurumaton nearby and solve its puzzle as well.
Just like the gate's puzzle, Aurumaton's puzzle is simple also. Once you solve it, head back to Kafka.
Kafka will ask you her second question, so you have to answer it again. Pick any of the options that you like and then it will be your turn to ask your last question.
Ask your last question by picking any of the options and proceed. Kafka will answer it and Yanqing will arrive on the scene. Yanqing will try to arrest Kafka, so you have to fight him.
Yanqing's fight is pretty simple. Just like in the Trailblaze Mission, you have to destroy all his swords so you can damage his Toughness bar. Just take all the swords out first and you should have no problem with this fight.

Letter from a Strange Woman is Kafka's Companion Mission. This is where we will get to know Kafka much better and find out her backstory!
All Missions and Mission Types
Apparently, if you refuse to help Kafka, you lose the information tab for Blade (and maybe even Kafka), so you can't listen to the voicelines or read his story. Maybe it's a bug, because i checked on the even tab and the companion mission wasn't unlocked for me, despite choosing to refuse her request. So either it's a bug, or Hoyo will do a side mission that forces you to help Kafka in order to gain access to Blade's information, which would make sense since Kafka plays a big role in the lore
