How to Unlock Dark Thunder Transformation
Find the Horse Guai in All Chapters
To unlock the Dark Thunder transformation, you need to find the horse guai as you progress through all chapters in the game.
Once you find him, you need to exhaust all of his dialogue or risk missing out on getting the transformation, so keep talking to him until he repeats a line.
Horse Guai Locations
The horse guai can be found within the map of the game's chapters.
Do note that if you defeat the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains boss in Chapter 5 without finding and exhausting all of the horse guai's lines, you will no longer get the transformation in your current run and you need to start a New Game Plus save for a chance to get it.

| Chapter 5 | Defeat the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains boss, then find a cart near the Valley Entrance Shrine in Furnace Valley and pull the cord. |

| 1 | Light Attack: Lightning Lashes Successively lash the enemy ahead, building up Focus with each strike. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Heavy Attack: Thunderbolt Sweep Successively lash the enemies around, building up Focus with each strike. |
| 3 | Spell: Lightning Infusion In transformation, this Spell can be released with full Focus. Raise the whip towards the sky, allowing thunder to infuse you through it, charging you into a Thrilled State. |
| 4 | Light Attack: Thunder Flurry In Thrilled State, each lash of the whip calls forth a lightning strike to assail the enemy. |
| 5 | Heavy Attack: Thunder Dominion In Thrilled State, raise your whip to conjure a Thunder Formation, intermittently striking enemies within its reach. |
