Rift Monsters found in Rifts drop energy when defeated, characterized by their black and purple color with appearances similar to entities found in Hyrule.
When exploring Hyrule, purple blobs will occasionally appear and follow Zelda, summoning Rift Monsters around Zelda on contact. These blobs often appear when approaching nearby small Rifts while traveling.

Equipping the Energy Glove or Energy Belt accessory increases the amount of Energy obtained when defeating Rift Monsters. Equip these accessories when in need of extra energy while battling Rift enemies.
Collecting energy scattered in Rifts restores the Swordfighter Gauge. As the gauge cannot be restored in Hyrule normally, it is recommended to use the Swordfighter Form sparingly outside of Rifts until further upgrades have been unlocked.

Select smoothie recipes such as the Milky Sweet Smoothie will restore the Swordfighter Gauge upon consumption. It is the primary source of obtaining energy outside of Rifts, hence, it is recommended to keep a stock of energy restoring smoothies in your inventory when exploring.
The Salted Milky Smoothie is the best smoothie for recovering Energy, restoring Energy to full and a large amount of hearts. It is recommended to stock as much of these as possible due to the sheer value it provides.
Obtaining Might Crystals fully restores energy. Might Crystals can be obtained from mending Rifts and investigating points of interest in the environment.

Equipping the Might Bell accessory can aid when locating Might Crystals while exploring. The Might Bell accessory can be obtained after clearing The Great Fairy's Request side quest.
The Great Fairy's Request Quest Walkthrough
Obtaining all upgrades and submitting 25 Might Crystals to Lueberry unlocks the Statue outside his house in Suthorn Prairie. Interact with the Statue to restore energy.
A grand total of 150 Might Crystals is required to unlock the Statue. 125 Might Crystals are needed to obtain all upgrades, and Lueberry will ask for 25 Might Crystals to create the Statue.

Equipping the Mastery Accessories indirectly increases Energy, as each piece grants a different level of the Energy Consumption Reduced effect. Each accessory's effect stacks, allowing Swordfighter Form to be retained longer for each Mastery piece equipped.
The Mastery Accessories can be obtained as milestone rewards in the Slumber Dojo Minigame.
