List of Contents
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom likely takes place in the Fallen Hero timeline. This is the timeline where the Hero of Time fails to defeat Ganondorf resulting to the latter stealing the Triforce of Wisdom and the Triforce of Courage.
The game's map resembles the ones used in games from this timeline specfically A Link Between Worlds. Hyrule Castle likely appears at the center of the map, similar to the previous top-down Zelda games.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom may take place between the Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and A Link Between Worlds due to its connection with the previous games.
The game's Still World resembles Lorule, the dark mirror of Hyrule from A Link Between Worlds. It also includes the two Zora races, which was only shown in the Oracle of Ages game.
Another speculation is that Echoes of Wisdom takes place after Link's Awakening. This is mostly due to the similarities between the map of Hyrule from A Link to the Past and Echoes of Wisdom and also Ganon from the former game.
A first in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom lets you play as Princess Zelda and is the main character of the story.
Although she is playable in previous games such as Spirit Tracks, this is the first time where Zelda is the full-fledged main character.
At the beginning of the game, Link fights off enemies and defeats Ganon in a boss fight. Just as he rescues Zelda, a mysterious rift appears from the spear left behind by Ganon and Link gets swallowed up by the rift.
Just before Link gets swallowed up by the rift, he uses his bow and arrow to free Zelda from the crystal. More rifts continue to appear all over Hyrule, swallowing up not only Link but also the King of Hyrule and its people.
After the rifts appear, impostor versions of the the King of Hyrule, the minister, and general appear to take their place. The imposter king blames Zelda for creating the rifts, causing her to be imprisoned.
Zelda must escape the castle and save Hyrule and the people swallowed up by the rift.

Spirit Tracks | Era: Future of Phantom Hourglass, after establishing the new Kingdom of Hyrule A story about a place where the railway network had developed before people moved in, and the vast land was made into the new Kingdom of Hyrule. |
These are titles form the splinter of the timeline when the Hero of Time in Ocarina of Time stays as an adult after winning the battle with Ganondorf. Ganon returns, but the hero does not. To prevent the destruction of the world, the goddesses submerge and seal Hyrule beneath the Great Sea. After Hyrule is sealed and flooded, the era progresses to Wind Waker.
The time gaps between these games are all relatively small and they all feature the same Link from Wind Waker.

At the castle, he finds a sleeping Zelda from a distant era and is ordered to look for the Triforce of Courage to wake her up from her long slumber. |
This is the timeline where Ganondorf defeats the Hero of Time and steals the Triforce of Wisdom and the Triforce of Courage. With the hero defeated, Princess Zelda and the six sages seal Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm in his dark beast form.
In this timeline, the Kingdom of Hyrule slowly declines and was divided into smaller countries.

Hyrule Warriors | Era: Unknown time and route. There is a theory that the beginning of time is different here compared to older games. A work released as Zelda's first Warriors game. Although it is set in Hyrule, it is a festive work with various Zelda characters. |
Breath of the Wild | Era: The exact placement of this game in the timeline is unknown. We only know that it is the last in the history of Hyrule. Link answers a woman's call and wakes up in a regenerative shrine. With the guidance of the voice, he picks up the Sheikah Slate and leaves the shrine. Set in the land of Hyrule that spreads beyond, Link embarks on a journey to save Princess Zelda while learning how to fight. |
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity | Era: A story about a 100-year-old calamity set before Breath of the Wild. Unlike the Breath of the Wild, it is a Warriors game and a story in which Link, Zelda, and heroes of various races fight against a large number of monsters that can be expressed only in the Warriors series. It's a story in which the "defeat" that leads to the Breath of the Wild was decided. |
Tears of the Kingdom | Era: Set directly after Breath of the Wild. Tears of the Kingdom is the latest game in the timeline and is the direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. Ganondorf reemerges and brings forth a new threat to the Kingdom of Hyrule. Link embarks on a journey once again to find Zelda and defeat Ganondorf. |
The above series are games whose timeline is unknown in the current version of Hyrule Hystoria. Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, Tears of the Kingdom are connected stories, but since we do not know which timeline the Breath of the Wild is in, we expect that future releases will reveal this information.
The popular theory is that Breath of the Wild is the convergence of the three parallel timelines that splintered off at the end of Ocarina of Time, with Tears of the Kingdom following directly after Breath of the Wild.
The info on timelines described above has been compiled based on currently confirmed knowledge about the series.
The Hyrule Historia has officially stated that the setting of each era may change someday, and every time a new game appears, the setting of the era changes due to new discoveries and new interpretations like a history textbook.
