Cotton-Candy Hunt is a Side Quest that can be started in Scrubton in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (EoW). Learn how to complete this quest and the Hidden Ruins dungeon, how to unlock it, its rewards, and how to beat Smog in this guide!

To unlock Cotton-Candy Hunt, you must finish the main quest A Rift in the Faron Wetlands first. This should make the side quests in Scrubton available.
A Rift in the Faron Wetlands Walkthrough
You also need to have finished Let's Play a Game, a side quest at the Eastern Temple in Eastern Hyrule Field. The Ancient Charm you receive as a reward from this quest will be upgraded upon finishing the Cotton-Candy Hunt quest.

Once you've completed these quests, go to Scrubton and talk to the Deku Scrub to the left of the waypoint.
How to Complete | |
---|---|
1 | Warp to the southeastern-most waypoint to get to the ruins. If you don't have this unlocked yet, follow the river south, go through the cave, out the other end, then head northeast to the ruins. |
2 | Defeat the Drippitunes near the entrance, so that you're free to ignite the torches outside the ruins. Use any fire-producing Echo you have to light the four torch pillars outside the Hidden Ruins. The two closest to the ruins are raised, so you will need to use an echo such as Platboom to raise yourself up and ignite them. |
3 | Go down the revealed staircase to enter the Hidden Ruins. A chest containing a Monster Stone is available before proceeding further below. |
4 | In the next room, power up the yellow block using two Sparks. You can either lead the Sparks in the room to the yellow block or toss out two Spark Echoes into it. Proceed to the room on the right once it opens. |
5 | Burn down the spider webs using any Echo that can produce fire or be caught on fire. Get two Sparks into the yellow block in the upper right area, either by leading the Sparks in the room there or by shooting out two Spark Echoes. |
6 | In the next room, move the objects in the sealed off area using Bind to lead the Sparks into the yellow block, or simply aim diagonally at the yellow block and shoot out three Spark Echoes. Go down into the next room when it opens. |
7 | Take out the Spark going around the first elevated platform using a Sea Urchin Echo before going up the platform using a Platboom Echo or your preferred method of ascension. A chest containing 20 Rupees can be opened before heading to the next room. |
8 | Use Bind to move the boxes and lead the three Sparks to the yellow block, or shoot Spark Echoes at it from above. If the Echoes don't go into the block, move the boxes around and guide them into the yellow block. |
9 | Take the time to rest in the next room. Set up a bed and heal up any hearts you may have lost. Proceeding to the right will start the boss battle with Smog. ▶ How to Beat Smog |
10 | Defeat Smog to get another Heart Piece. Then, exit the ruins and return to the Deku Scrub in Scrubton to complete the quest. |
Smog is a little trickier to take on in this sidescrolling format. The battle will start with Smog divided into three clouds. Use single-block Echoes like the Wooden Box and tall Echoes like the Decorative Shrub to nudge the clouds together.
Once Smog is reformed, use ranged attacks to damage it. The Boomerang Boarblin Echo and the Swordfighter form's bow are recommended.

Curious Charm |
Description |
---|---|
An unusual memento. The spells on it greatly decrease damage for its wearer. | |
Effect | Damage Reduced+ |
You're rewarded with the Curious Charm accessory upon completing the Cotton-Candy Hunt side quest.
The Curious Charm is an upgraded version of the Ancient Charm that you obtained in the Let's Play a Game side quest. Because of this, the Ancient Charm will no longer be in your inventory after completing this quest.
Just like in the Eastern Temple, Smog drops another Heart Piece once it's defeated during the Cotton-Candy Hunt quest.
