Prologue Guide

In the Prologue, you get to play as Link, work towards freeing Zelda and having her escape as a fugitive blamed for the appearance of the rifts.

Make Your Way Inside the Dungeon

How to Complete
1
As Link, head north until you reach an elevator that leads to the next area.
2
Head north, then up the stairs. The rocks to the west will be too high to jump over, so head east. Jump over the rubble, and continue east up the staircase.
3
Press and hold the ZL button to ready your shield and target the Darknut.

You could attack with your sword, or alternatively, press and hold A to bring out a Bomb that will turn into a Bombchu. Release A and the Bombchu will head towards the Darknut, defeating it in one explosion.

Take down the second Darknut and continue east, up the stairs, and into the next room.
4
The door will lock behind you, and so will the other exits of the room. When this happens, you typically have to defeat all the enemies in the vicinity before you can progress.

In this case, there are three Darknuts, all of which you can take down with one well-timed Bombchu. Take them down and the way forward will open up.
5
Continue ahead and defeat the Keese overhead with your bow. Press and hold the ZL button to target the Keese and loose an arrow by pressing X. A direct hit with your arrow will be enough for the Keese to fall.
6
Head west and defeat the rest of the Keese. You'll have to do some platforming across the rubble to reach the door on the west side.
7
In the next room, put together the combat skills you've learned so far. Defeat both Keese with an arrow shot each, and take down the Darknuts with your Bombchus before proceeding ahead to the stairs north.

Defeat Ganon

How to Complete
1
Ganon has two main attacks for this fight. The first is a forward spear lunge. Avoid Ganon's spear by jumping and moving away as soon as he readies his spear. Attack him with your sword by pressing Y after he lunges forward with his spear.
2
Ganon's second attack involves casting an explosive red orb. You can deflect this orb back at him with a well-timed swing of your sword. This will initiate a rally known as the Dead Man's Volley. After three successful returns, the orb will blow up in Ganon's face. This incapacitates him, allowing you to swipe at him with your sword.

Ganon will alternate between these two attacks. Continue to counter and deal damage to him until he cedes and a cutscene plays.

Escape the Dungeon and Reach Hyrule Castle

How to Complete
1
After the cutscene ends, wiggle your left thumbstick or press the face buttons to break out of the crystal.
2
Pick up the cloak on the bottom right corner of the rift to pick up the Swordsman's cloak.
3
After picking up the cloak, the rift will grow and you'll have to run away from it. Make your way through the obstacles and jumping over the falling debris as necessary until you escape the ruins.

Once you're out, cutscenes will play and the title card will appear.
4
After the cutscene ends, head north towards the castle.
5
Continue heading north to move towards the castle's throne room. Have a brief conversation with Impa before continuing north into the throne room. Watch the long cutscene that follows.

Escape Hyrule Castle Jail

How to Complete
1
Once gameplay resumes, you'll find yourself inside a jail cell. With seemingly no way out, Tri will appear and give you the Tri Rod. Use it by learning an Echo of the Table in the room by pressing ZR.
2
Use the Table echo to create a staircase that leads to the destroyed rock wall on the left side to escape towards the open jail cell. Since guards are blocking the east exit, head through the hall to the west.
3
Use the Table echo to create a platform leading to the top of the shelf to sneak past the first guard. Learn the Wooden Box echo.
4
Use the Wooden Box echo to block the patrol path of the two guards to sneak past them.
5
Climb the ladder and learn the Hyrule Castle Pot echo at the top of the shelf.
6
You can lift and throw the pot to distract the guard to move them at a specific place to investigate, allowing you to sneak past them.

Alternatively you can jump into the pot to sneakily move around. Avoid moving when a guard is looking directly at you.
6
Once you enter to the next room, you will meet with Impa and obtain the log notebook and the disguise. The disguise will allow you to spin, and the adventure log will mark the start of your first quest.

Prologue Boss: Ganon

Attack Ganon After He Strikes with His Spear

Ganon's first attack has him teleport and reappearing to lunge his spear. Move away as soon as he reappears and attack as soon as he misses his lunging attack.

Deflect the Orb to Paralyze Ganon

During the second and last phase of the fight, Ganon will produce an energy orb that will follow you around slowly. Use your sword to deflect it back to Ganon.

Engage in a Dead Man's Volley by deflecting the orb back and forth until Ganon gets hit with it and becomes paralyzed. Attack him while he is in a paralyzed state.
