How to Use Automatons

Press the Left D-Pad to Summon an Automaton

Press Left D-Pad to Summon an Automaton

Players can toggle between Automatons and Echoes to summon with the Left and Right D-Pad buttons. Press the Left D-Pad to summon an Automaton, and hold the Left D-Pad to switch the Automaton to use.

Controls Guide

Press Y to Wind Up the Automaton

Press the Y Button when near an Automaton to activate it. Note that Automatons will remain stationary unless activated, and winding an Automaton can leave Zelda vulnerable.

The Clockwork Bangle accessory grants the Winding Speed Up effect without the use of Smoothies. It can be obtained after acquiring all Automatons and speaking to Dampe.

Automatons are gizmos with unique combat properties that vastly differentiates itself from Echoes. These are crafted by Engineer Dampe, a recurring character in the series who was a gravekeeper in the previous titles.

Use Monster Stones to Repair Automatons

Automaton being destroyed

Damaged Automatons can be repaired using Monster Stones, obtained as a rare drop from enemies, chests, or as rewards from side quests and minigames.

Like Echoes, the Automatons won't be in the battlefield for long as they have limited health and will be destroyed if they take too much damage.

Clear the Automaton Engineer Dampe Side Quest

Automaton Engineer Dampe

Automatons will become available after completing the Automaton Engineer Dampe side quest. Fast travel to the waypoint north of Hyrule Ranch and head east into Hyrule Field. A cutscene will trigger with Dampe and a Crow.

Thank you for pointing this out! Although we did have that information in our Teku Baba / Endless Stomach Quest Guides, it must have slipped through the cracks when updating this page. It should be fixed now! Thanks again for using our guides 😃

Part of this is misleading a regular deku baba won’t work, it needs to be a lv 2 or a bio deku baba or he’ll just say it’s not quite what I’m looking for
