Note: You don't need to go down to your ship to gather materials. If a prompt doesn't appear as you get closer, it may mean that another player has already gathered the materials. |
To harvest Jute, you must obtain the Saw I tool by crafting it through the Carpenter. This will allow you to interact with Jute resource nodes and obtain its resources.
Upon obtaining the tool needed, open your map and you should see points of interest where you can harvest the resource you're looking for. Marked that location and travel towards it. Once you've arrived, simply get close to the node, click on the harvest prompt, and complete the mini-game that will appear.
Note that you don't need to go down to your ship to start gathering in these areas. If a prompt doesn't appear when you get close, it may imply that another player has already gathered the materials. You can either wait for the resource node to respawn or go to another location where you can harvest.
You can turn on the Auto Harvest feature in the settings menu to harvest resources without playing the mini-game. Although this is easier, you'll harvest longer and get fewer resources per node.
The locations for obtaining the Jute required for the Tools of the Trade Contract can be found by simply opening your map. Here you'll see marked icons, signifying that these are areas of interest where Jute can be harvested.
Note that the areas of interest marked in your map are not only locations where you can find Jute. Try roaming around the marked location, as these can be abundantly found around the area.
Interactive Map and Points of Interest
If you've arrived at a marked location and there is no harvest prompt showing up, check if the resource is still present in the area. You can identify a node if it has been taken by looking at it's appearance. If it appears to be depleted it means that it was already gathered by another player, and it's just best to just go on to another location.
You can use Jute to craft Fine Jute, which is a Refined Material used to craft higher quality items. You can turn your Jute into Fine Jute by crafting them through the Refinery.
You'll need 20 Jute to build the Rammer ship. Other ships do not require Jute as a material, so check in with the Shipwright and see the required materials to build each ship!
