How to Clear A Light in the Depths Request Walkthrough

How to Clear A Light in the Depths

Take the Branching Route to the Underwater Ruins

In Undersea, Lanturn can only be found in the branching route to the underwater ruins. Take the route via the cave entrance right before the seaweed patch. The request can only be done on research level 3, where the entrance to the alternate route is already cleared.

Throw an Illumina Orb at Lanturn

Deeper into the cave, when you're descending the giant hole, a Lanturn will be swimming around beside you. Throw an Illumina orb at Lanturn, then it will notice a Sharpedo from above swimming towards it. Both Pokemon will swim downwards, while a bunch of other Pokemon will be swimming upwards at the same time - one of them being a giant Wailord that covers most of the screen.

Save Lanturn from Frillish

Once the Wailord passes, you will see 2 Frillish holding the Lanturn. Lanturn is now in peril! Throw an Illumina orb at the Lanturn for it to shock its way out of the Frillish's grasp. It will then swim downards in the same direction you're headed.

Snap a Photo of Grateful Lanturn

Once you reach the seafloor, you'll see the Lanturn turn around and face you. It will express rejoice by putting on a happy face and bobbing up and down. This is when you snap the photo of Lanturn and fulfill the request.

Lugia's Lair

It's unrelated to clearing the request, but immediately after Lanturn expresses its enthusiasm, it will swim over to a small cave entrance to your right. You will then be able to unlock the branching route into Lugia's lair.
