Kafka, Black Swan, and Ruan Mei are the trial characters for Day 5.
With Kafka and Black Swan being the Trial characters, we recommend using them together for Day 5 of Morning Starlight. The ideal team will be Kafka, Black Swan, Tribbie, and Huohuo.
Tribbie is preferred over Ruan Mei due to their follow-up attacks being able to trigger the stage mechanic when the enemies hit have max "Toxic" stacks.

If you don't have Huohuo, Lingsha is the next best sustain unit due to Fuyuan's timely heals. Fuyuan is also able to trigger the stage mechanic when hitting enemies with max "Toxic" stacks.
If you don't have Tribbie, Ruan Mei and Robin are great options as support characters due to their team-wide damage buffs. If you don't want to use a support buffer, Pela is recommended due to the debuffs she brings.
If you are willing to take the risk, going sustainless is an option as well. Sampo and Guinaifen are great sub-dps unit options due to the AoE application of their DoTs.

With this set of trial characters, the last character is recommended to be a sustain unit. Preferably someone who can reliably provide heals such as Lynx, who has a continuous healing buff.

The stage mechanic allows us to be able to focus down the elite enemies while also clearing the rest of the wave with ease.
One thing we can do to maximize damage is by targetting the enemies, preferably the elites, with max "Toxic" stacks with basic ATKs whenever Kafka's follow-up attack is available.
The basic ATK and the follow-up attack will both trigger the stage mechanic DoT damage separately, meaning it can be triggered twice or thrice if you use an ultimate as well, within one unit's turn.

| When ally targets deal DoT to enemy targets, the targets are inflicted with 1 stack of "Toxic", up to a maximum of 4 stacks. DoT received by enemy targets with "Toxic" are guaranteed to CRIT, and every stack of "Toxic" increases the CRIT DMG they receive by 120%. After ally targets attack an enemy target with 4 stacks of "Toxic", immediately deals DMG equal to 50% of the DoT it received to the target and adjacent targets. |
