Part 1 of Hook's Companion Mission
Old Foreman's Treasure is the first part of Hook's Companion Mission. This mission will have us investigate what happened to Fersman's Vein Detector. After you complete all of her Companion Missions, Hook will appear on the Astral Express to visit!

To unlock Old Foreman's Treasure, you must complete the Lying in Rust Trailblaze Mission.
Respond to Julian's Message
After completing Lying in Rust and reaching Trailblaze Level 16, respond to Julian's message. This will allow you to accept the first companion quest for Hook!

| 1 | Once you have the quest accepted, head on over to Boulder Town in Jarilo-VI and talk to Julian in front of Natasha's Clinic. |
| 2 | After the conversation ends, head into the Great Mine to start looking for Hook. Tip: Fast travel to the Vagrant Shelter Space Anchor to save you the trouble of having to run the entire length of the mine again. |
| 3 | Look for Hook at the Vagrant Shelter in the Great Mine. She can be found next to Fersman as they are cornered by 2 Vagrants. |
| 4 | Approach the group and prepare for a fight. Help Hook defeat the Vagrants. |
| 5 | Speak to Fersman once the battle concludes. Follow him back to Natasha's Clinic in Boulder Town and participate in the conversation between Hook, Fersman, and Natasha. |
| 6 | Once the conversation ends, exit the clinic and talk to Hook about the stolen vein detector. |
| 7 | Head back to the Vagrant Shelter in the Great Mine. Speak to Hook and Swetta by the tents. |
| 8 | With the details of the crime finally made known, start interrogating the 4 suspects in the Vagrant Shelter. ・Cook (Thief) ・Tailor (Innocent) ・Helper (Innocent) ・Merchant (Innocent) |
| 9 |  After you've spoken to all 4, you will automatically return to Swetta. She will summarize your findings and ask you to pick a suspect to accuse. The real thief is the Cook. Note: Choosing the wrong answer will not affect the outcome of the quest. You will simply get an extra step in the investigation. |
| 9.5 | If you accuse the wrong culprit, you will need to investigate further. Examine Fresman's tent in the Vagrant's Shelter before heading to the marked location nearby. Match the label you found with one of the crates to progress the quest. |
| 10 | If you choose to accuse the Cook then you will find that he has left his tent. Find Sampo at the entrance of the Great Mine and confront the Cook trying to sell off Fresman's vein detector. |
| 11 | Defeat the Cook in battle and retrieve the vein detector. |
| 12 | Listen to Sampo and take the broken detector back to Boulder Town. Look for Balaway and ask him to appraise the detector. |
| 13 | Return to Fresman in Natasha's Clinic. Tell him what you and Hook have been up to this whole time. This completes the Companion Mission. |
Who Stole the Detector?
The Cook Stole the Detector
The Cook is the thief in Old Foreman's Treasure. After investigating, you and Hook will find out that it was the Cook who stole Fresman's vein detector while no one was at the camp. You'll have to fight him to get it back
What Happens if You Accuse the Wrong Person?
Choosing the wrong suspect will not fail the quest. Instead, you will get an additional investigation step during the Companion Mission. The quest will still end the same way regardless of whether you found the correct thief the first time around.
