What are Optional Objectives?

Dark Alliance Optional Objectives

Optional Objectives are side missions given at the start of a level. These objectives will vary, from collecting a set amount of items, to breaking certain objects, to beating a specific enemy, among others.

Rewards for Completing

You will gain bonus experience points for completing Optional Objectives. Keep in mind, however, that for certain levels you will have to complete all Optional Objectives to gain the bonus experience.

The amount of points gained will vary, but they are generally around the 100 XP range, unless the objectives are particularly different.

Mogthump the Sticker is an Optional Objective Boss

If you're a completionist or if you think that the small bonus experience will level you up, you can decide to finish them. But for the most part, no, Optional Objectives won't be worth the extra effort.

The only time you should prioritize them is when they involve killing a boss. Completing this drops loot in addition to bonus experience.

When they don't involve killing a boss, they can be particularly tedious, especially when you have to collect a number of items, because they can slow the game down for you as you go off the Main Objective path and scour the map instead.

It would be different if the experience gained from them was higher, but instead you can just earn around the same amount by beating enemies while on the way to finishing your Main Objective.
