Online Subscription Needed For Console Players

To play multiplayer in Civilization 7 on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch, you'll need an active online subscription for your platform.

On Xbox, this means you need to have either the Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PlayStation players will need a PlayStation Plus subscription, while Nintendo Switch users need to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

In the next screen, you can choose which civ and leader you want.

Just below your name, you'll find player slots. You can open or close each slot as needed, and if you prefer, you can fill some slots with AI opponents.

In the upper left corner of the screen is the Join Code, which you can share to your friends so they can join the game you're hosting.

Finally, you can select your Mementos in the lower right corner of your screen before starting the game.

Join An Active Lobby

If you don't want to host your own game, you can always just join an active lobby.

Then, choose what mode you want to play in—Internet or LAN.
3
In the next screen, you'll find a list of games you can join. Simply click on a lobby that you want to join.

If you weren't able to get in, try joining another lobby until you find one that lets you in.

Extremely disappointed we purchased the deluxe version as we love civilization via. We play hotseat. As of now it doesn't exist. We wasted our money as we bought to play together and will not use now. I hope the hotseat option will actually come out.
