Celebrations give temporary empire-wide buffs and are triggered by earning enough global Happiness in Civilization 7 (Civ 7). Learn how to trigger Celebrations and what they do in this guide!
List of Contents
Celebrations in Civ 7 are triggered by earning enough global Happiness, depicted by the "smiling face" icon on the top left corner of the screen together with the other yields.
You'll know a Celebration can be triggered if the circle on the bottom right corner of your screen says “Choose Celebration”. You can then click on the same circle to choose what bonus you want to get from the celebration for the next couple of turns.

You can increase your global Happiness by increasing the Happiness yield of your settlements and managing war weariness and other factors that lower Happiness like maintenance costs.
The higher your empire's total Happiness is, the faster the next Celebration will occur. You can check how many turns are left for the next one by opening the Policies menu. The Happiness requirement also increases with each triggered Celebration.

Celebrations are special events in Civ 7 that happen when you've reached a certain amount of global Happiness. When triggered, you can choose a buff to use for several turns that will enhance a certain stat or yield.
The Government type that you choose early on during the Age will determine the Celebration effects that you can choose. Picking a Government that matches your playstyle is best but we recommend those with Celebrations that boost Science, Culture, or Food yields for more flexibility.
A new Social Policy slot is added every time you enter a Celebration, making an empire that triggers them frequently even more powerful if they have lots of Traditions and Social Policies unlocked.
