Civ7 - Change Capitals
Changing capitals in Civilization VII (Civ 7) is doable by selecting the Change Capital Legacy during an Age Change. Learn how to change capitals and learn what happens to your old capital here!

Choose Change Capital Legacy

Civ 7 - Change Capital Legacy
In Civ 7, you can change your Civilization's capital in between Ages. During an Age Change, you will be given a list of Legacies that you can apply during your new Age.

Based on the Legacy Points the player received during the course of last Age, they can pick certain Legacies to help their next Age out.

Scroll down the Legacy List and choose the Change Capital Legacy, costing no Legacy points, and choose a city to make your new Capital. The new capital will be denoted with a star, and the name will be changed based on the Civilization chosen.

Old Capital Will Be A City

Civ7 - New Capital
After changing capitals, your old capital will be turned into a city while all other settlements will be turned into towns. This is a way to receive a free city upgrade for your old capital since it doesn't turn back into a town after the Age change.
