You can force to end your turn in Civilization VII (Civ 7) by pressing Shift and Enter on keyboard. Learn how to force your turn to end, when to end a turn, and what happens when you force a turn to end by reading our guide below!
List of Contents

You can force end a turn by pressing Enter while holding Shift.
In the Options menu, you can also change the keybind to this function. Go to the Accessibility header and click CONFIGURE next to Keyboard + Mouse.

There is no button or function that can forcibly end a turn for console versions of Civ 7.
Instead, you can press Y or Triangle to cycle to the next turn blocking action. This will help you progress through turns faster.

This action will force the game to transition to the next turn despite remaining turn blocking actions.
Turn blocking actions will prevent you from going to the next turn until you do it. These actions include:
If there are pending actions that cannot be skipped but need your decision, like Crisis Policies and Diplomatic Endeavors, the game will act on them for you.
For example, if you choose to end your turn with a pending Diplomatic Endeavor, the game will most likely choose the Accept
option. It will not cost you Influence and maintains your relationship with the other civilization.
Narrative Choices, that are not activated by Crisis, will not be removed if you skip a turn. Instead, they will carry over to the next one.

When you have an army or a lot of civilian units, it can be difficult to always be moving them or manually setting each unit to Alert or Sleep.
Ending the turn early can speed up your game after you manage the units you want to move.

There are times when you cannot produce anything in your cities and towns like when they are in unrest or there is a building you do not want to produce.
Usually, you have to individually check each settlement, when there is an opportunity to improve or change them, to end the turn. To avoid wasting time or yield, you can force it to end instead.

Forcibly ending your turn can be an advanced technique when you want to stockpile a yield.
The yield you produce when you end a turn in advance will carry over to the next building, civic, or technology you want. It will still take a turn to obtain the upgrade you were saving for.
However, we do not recommend this action for new players. It is recommended to always produce, research, and study the next upgrade whenever possible.
When you cannot end a turn due to a random bug, you can use this keybind to continue the game. If you are on console, the best you can do is go back to a previous save.
