Natural Disasters in Civilization VII (Civ 7) are special events that revolve around the natural landmasses near towns and cause damage to their buildings. Learn all different types of natural disasters, what they are and how to avoid natural disasters here!

Floods are a natural disaster that occurs in coastal towns or towns near riverbanks or floodplains. When floods occur, they usually damage fishing boats that are built by the water.

Volcano Explosions are disasters that occur in towns with a major volcano around them. Volcanoes damage any structure surrounding them, showing the affected area as blackened.

Hurricanes are a type of storm disaster that occurs in towns near coastal areas. Players will often see a storm brewing by the town a turn or so before the hurricane hits the town.

Tornadoes are a type of storm disaster that occurs in Plains and Grasslands, forming pillars of wind across the area. Players will often see a storm brewing by the town a turn or so before it hits.

Blizzards are the storm disaster exclusive to Tundras and Snow areas. This storm can also be seen brewing around the area before it hits your towns.

Dust Storms are the storm disaster exclusive to the desert tiles. Causing damage to your desert towns and buildings, you will see these dust clouds forming in the distance before it hits your town.

Squall Lines are this game's version of a thunderstorm. Usually occuring in mountainous plains, these storms causes buildings to catch on fire.

Natural Disasters are events that happen periodically around natural landmasses and bodies of water that damages towns nearby.
The type of natural disaster towns experience will depend on the natural landmarks near them, as most natural disasters are based on the terrain they form in.

Among the advanced setting that the player can tweak bvefore starting a run, players can choose to pick how often a natural disaster can occur. Through the Advanced Settings, scroll down until you see the Disaster Intensity
setting, and set it to Light. This will reduce the chances of natural disasters occuring.
