Use Factory resources by building factories in Civilization 7 (Civ 7). Learn how to use Factory resources here, as well as how to unlock Factories to rack up Railroad Tycoon Points in the Modern Age.
List of Contents

Factory Resources can only be used after putting Factories in settlements, which will only become accessible later in the Modern Tech Tree.
As part of the Economic Legacy Path, focus on building Railroads first since they are also required to complete the legacy path.

Railroads can be unlocked in the second tier of research in the Tech Tree. They become accessible after researching Military Sciences, which then unlocks Industrialization. Completing Industrialization grants access to Railroads.

Before allocating Factory resources, you need to build a Factory first. Each settlement can only house one Factory, and it's recommended to build one in each settlement if you want to progress the Economic Legacy Path quickly and easily reach 500 Railroad Tycoon Points.

Factories can be unlocked by researching the Mass Production technology, which becomes available automatically after unlocking the Industrialization technology.

Once you have Factories and Railroads, allocate the resource of your choice to the Factory slot in each settlement. It's best to mass-produce resources that are not part of any trade routes to avoid disruptions in case of war.
Set Up Trade Routes With Merchants

As mentioned, you can only mass-produce one resource per settlement. If you're aiming to get more Railroad Tycoon Points, focus on building more settlements to house additional Factories. Just make sure to keep a close eye on your relationships to avoid any disruptions to your plans.

Once you're all set, simply progress the game by skipping turns to passively rack up Railroad Tycoon Points. Each Factory can only give you one point, so make sure to build as many as you can to gain more each turn.

In case you have Factories in distant lands, building Ports will allow railroad trades to continue, earning you a point despite the distance. This is also the only way to trade if you're playing on an Archipelago Map.
