Game Speed in Civilization VII (Civ 7) will set how many yields it takes to develop your civ and the total amount of turns for each Age. Learn what game speed is and which one to choose
List of Contents

Game Speed will dictate the costs of everything in the game. This will affect how long it takes to produce buildings and units, research new technology, study new civics, and grow your settlements.
| Game Speed | Estimated Cost Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Online | 0.5x |
| Quick | 0.66x |
| Standard | 1x |
| Epic | 1.66x |
| Marathon | 3x |
The smaller the costs, the faster it will take to progress through turns and acquire more improvements.

Standard is best for players who are knowledgeable in 4X Strategy games. The intended game speed will help them understand the impact of each game decision and plan ahead accordingly.
Online or Quick are great options for new players or those who want the Civ experience in a few days' playtime.
You can finish a full game of Civ 7 on Online Game Speed and Abbreviated Age Progression within a day.
Longer games with Epic, or even Marathon, will make players question each decision, since they have to wait a couple turns for improvements.

Another mechanic that dictates game length is Age Length. This will set how long each Age is. The longer it is, the more turns it will take for it to an Age to End. There are three options: Standard, Abbreviated, and Long.
You can activate this by opening the Advanced Options before launching a game.
For those who feel that the Standard Age Length is too fast, you might prefer to set it to Long. This will help you to finish a Legacy Path or two while letting you complete your Tech and Civic Trees.
If you want to create the fastest civ possible game to experiment with a leader, civilization, or build order, you can use this Age Length.
