How to Complete the Horse Guai Quest
Talk to Horse Guai at Bamboo Grove, Back Hills Talk to Horse Guai at Sandgate Village, Village Entrance Talk to Horse Guai at New Thunderclap Temple, Mahavira Hall Hit the Giant Cocoon and Talk to Horse Guai Defeat Keeper of Flaming Mountains Find the Broken Element Cart at Furnace Valley

Talk to Horse Guai at Bamboo Grove, Back Hills

To start Horse Guai's questline, fast travel to Bamboo Grove, Back Hills on Chapter 1 and make your way to the cave where the meditation spot is also located. Talk to the Horse Guai and exhaust his dialogues.

Talk to Horse Guai at Sandgate Village, Village Entrance

Fast travel to Sandgate Village, Village Entrance in Chapter 2 and pass through the first gate. Look to your left and look for a small area with pillars. The Horse Guai will be tied to one of the pillars so go and talk to him until he starts repeating a line.

Talk to Horse Guai at New Thunderclap Temple, Mahavira Hall

Fast travel to New Thunderclap Temple, Temple Entrance on Chapter 3 and make your way to one of the temples on the left. Head straight to the second floor to find the Horse Guai standing next to a hanging bell.

Hit the Giant Cocoon and Talk to Horse Guai

Fast travel to Webbed Hollow, Bonevault on Chapter 4 and head to Centipede Guai's boss fight location and defeat it. Afterwards, follow the path throught the cave until you reach an area with a lot of cocoons.

Look for a giant cocoon and keep hitting it until it breaks and a cutscene starts playing. The Horse Guai will emerge from the cocoon, so talk to him once the cutscene is done.

How to Beat Centipede Guai

Defeat Keeper of Flaming Mountains

Before heading to the next Horse Guai location, defeat the Keeper of Flaming Mountains to continue this questline. This boss was previously mentioned by Horse Guai, making it a required part of his quest so make sure to do this!

How to Beat Keeper of Flaming Mountains and Yin-Yang Fish

Find the Broken Element Cart at Furnace Valley

Fast travel to Furnace Valley, Valley Entrance on Chapter 5 and go towards the lava area. Ignore the flame worms surrounding the area and follow Horse Guai's voice until you find a broken Element Cart nearby.

Interact with it and pull the whip out of the cart. After the cutscene plays, Wukong will learn the Dark Thunder transformation and complete this quest.
