Have Stone Vanguard and Shigandang Fight

You can kill one of the two bosses with one stone, literally. To do this, do not fight Stone Vanguard until you collected all the Buddha Eyes.

Then, head to the area where Shigandang and Stone Vanguard is, they will both appear at the same time. Keep your distance from them and watch as one battles the other. The loser will fall, sparing you a boss fight.

Stone Vanguard Strategy

Punish Its Slow Attacks

The Stone Vanguard's attacks are quite slow compared to other bosses, making them easily predictable and avoidable. You can punish the Stone Vanguard's slow attacks by attacking a few times as it winds up its attack, then roll sideways to dodge them. Just repeat this process, and you can quickly deplete the boss' HP.

Watch Out for Its Area Attack

The Stone Vanguard has a power area attack that can be annoying to deal with since it knocks you back. However, it's easily telegraphed by its animation.

It first raises its arms, then slams the ground. Afterwards, its arms glow for a short time before the ground shatters, dealing high damage and knocking you back when you get hit.

Once you see it raise its arms, get back immediately to avoid getting crushed. After avoiding this attack, you can then retaliate with attacks and spells.

Keep Your Distance and Dodge the Boulders

One of the Stone Vanguard's attacks is summoning multiple Pitstones which then leap towards you to crush you. Afterwards, the Stone Vanguard itself will leap towards you and slam the ground. You'll know when this attack is coming when the Stone Vanguard punches the ground twice quickly.

Once you see it do this animation, get far away as you can and dodge the Pitstones that leap towards you until the attack finishes.

How to Dodge

Use Immobilize and the Wandering Wight Spirit Attack

At this point in the game, you'll have the Immobilize spell and most likely the Wandering Wight spirit attack. They essentially do the same thing, stunning the target. Using those skills will make the fight easier.

Use Immobilize or the Wandering Wight spirit attack when you see an opening, which is usually after it completes its attacks, then follow up with attacks while it's stunned.

Red Tides Attacks Don't Burn It

Although you can still use the Red Tides transformation to survive longer and deal more damage, do note that the Stone Vanguard is immune to the transformation's Burn effect.
