In our opinion, Valentine's Lyon is the best unit on this banner.

He comes with unique and powerful effects, notably his high pre-combat damage effect as well as his ability to end his foe's turns immediately at the start of the next phase.

The current metagame in high level play is to apply as much pre-combat damage as possible using skills like Flared Sparrow and Occultist's Strike to wear down tanks and leave them vulnerable in combat. Valentine's Lyon has a stronger pre-combat damage effect on his weapon, Tender Vessel, which allows him to heavily damage enemy units before his first attack. Even dedicated tank units struggle to survive combat against a good Valentine's Lyon.

As of the time of this banner's release, the only inheritable counter to pre-combat damage is to run Breath of Life 4. However, this is a newly released skill and is not widely available as of now.

For the most part, this summon does not warrant spending many orbs on. The heroes on this banner, while quite strong, are not absolute must-haves. Unless any of them are among your favorite Fire Emblem characters, we recommend skipping this banner and saving your orbs for future banners instead.

However, Valentine's Lyon is an elite unit defining the current metagame with his heavy nuking power. If you are struggling in competitive PvP game modes, investing some orbs to summon a copy of Valentine's Lyon may be worth it.
