Blacksmith Ed can use any kind of ore to upgrade weapons. Keep talking to him until he starts to talking about the ultimate ore. You can them give him the Red Hot Demon's Soul from Flamelurker to unlock the forging of special weapons. To forge these weapons, you need to bring the correct weapon as well as the Demon's Souls required to Ed. If you kill Ed, he drops the Hands of God.
