The Flying Red Dragon can first be found on a long bridge in Boletarian Palace. It will continuously spew fire over the bridge when you are near it. If you take a left before the bridge, you can also find it by the Flying Blue Dragon in a field. It will attack you with fire here as well. It is possible to weaken the dragon here with projectiles, but we recommend waiting until the next encounter to try and defeat it.
The second encounter will come after defeating the Phalanx boss. After exiting the room with the Hoplites, there will once again be a bridge that the dragon will fly over and breath fire. This is one area where you can take it on.

When taking down the Flying Red Dragon with projectiles, first make sure you are aptly prepared. When using arrows, make sure to have at least 150 with you. If using magic, be sure to have some spice to restore your MP as well.
The best area to hit the Red Flying Dragon will be just behind the pile of burnt corpses near the front of the bridge. It may take some trial and error, but if you stand just behind them and attack the second you hear the dragon roar, you should be able to land a hit. If you stand too close or on top of the corpses, the dragon will clip you in its landing attack. If you do not wish to use projectiles, you can also time your weapon from this position to strike the back end of its tail when it flies by.
Do not attempt to lock on during this fight. It will only make landing hits more complicated. If you are using a projectile such as a crossbow, if you aim down the bridge and time the attack correctly, you should be able to hit the dragon without locking on.
Once you have gotten the timing down to land an attack, it's time to get comfortable. It will be a battle of fruition, slowing chipping away at its health bar. Be patient and eventually, the dragon will fall!
