After taking the alternate route in the cave, you can find a couple of Aerodactyl flying in the air inside the large chasm. Take a photo of one of the Aerodactyl as it flies to get a 1 Star photo.

As you enter the second area of the Volcano course after the hot spring at Research Level 3, you can spot an Aerodactyl perched on top of a tall rock to the left of the path. Toss a Fluffruit at the Aerodactyl and take a photo as the fruit hits the Pokemon to get a 2 Star photo.

In the final area of the Volcano after taking the alternate route, you can spot two Typhlosion at the bottom of the large chasm. Hit one of the Typhlosion with a Fluffruit after entering the area to scare them away and allow Aerodactyl to land. Once Aerodactyl lands, wait until it starts walking before taking the photo.

To get a 4 Star photo of Aerodactyl, you need to follow the steps to completing the Rest Your Wings request and take a photo of the Pokemon while it is eating Fluffruit on the ground.

To answer my own question: I was able to get a 2 star diamond photo in the same place as the 3 and 4 star ones. I just hit it with a fluffruit there. 👍🏻
