When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

Neutral IVs by default!

As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Gonzalez will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Atk/-Res

We recommend a +Atk IV for Gonzalez as it is a superboon and it improves his matchups by dealing more damage.

A +HP IV also works if you will use Gonzalez in Pawns of Loki to increase your overall score. HP is also a superboon, so you will still receive a higher Arena score if Gonzalez is merged at least once!

His Res is abysmal at base 21, and lowering it further will not impact most of his matchups. Thus, it is safe to take as a bane.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend +Atk when merging Gonzalez up to +10. This increases his Arena score by reaching the 185 BST bin while being the most effective IV boost you can use.

How to Use, Explanation

This build focuses on speeding up Archrival as much as possible with multiple Special reduction effects. Gonzalez can use his high HP to be the primary carrier of Infantry Pulse 4 to further support his allies.

While refined Altruist's Axe isn't as powerful as other modern weapon refines, it brings enough to make Gonzalez relevant in battle.

Gonzalez may struggle against the top tier metagame heroes, but against everyone else, he should be able to hold his own, assuming equal investment on both sides.

Very high HP stat

Gonzalez has a very high base HP stat of 50. This allows him to absorb damage from both physical and magical sources, making him a decent tank unit.

This is also relevant in Pawns of Loki, as scoring is based on the current HP of your team!

Gonzalez Weaknesses

Very low Res

Gonzalez has an abysmal base Res stat, sitting at only 21. This leaves him extremely vulnerable to foes that deal magical damage.

His very high HP stat can mitigate this weakness somewhat, but he will still receive a major blow which will leave him unable to perform at full potential.

Competition

Gonzalez faces still competition from the Axe Infantry archetype with multiple similar units also available in the Heroic Grail shop.

Ninja Shamir and Ninja Hana utilize speed builds better, while other units like Balthus, Basilio and Caellach reside in a similar or lower speed tier than Gonzalez, each with their own differences in other stats.

Gonzalez has three nice inheritable skills in Rein Axe+, Atk/Spd Push 3 and Threat. Atk/Spd 2.

Rein Axe+ is a newly released inheritable axe that functions similar to Rein skills that fliers use on their C slots.

Atk/Spd Push 3 and Threat. Atk/Spd 2 are both not the final tier of their skill tree, but these make Gonzalez a nice bridge for pre-inheritance for the final tier or premium skills like Atk/Spd Push 4 and Atk/Spd Menace.

Obtain through a Grand Hero Battle

Gonzalez is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
