As a hero obtainable only through Tempest Trials, Young Boyd will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Atk/-Res

Young Boyd's best IVs are +Atk/-Res. His Atk is a superboon and boosting it will yield better returns.

His Res is below average and reducing it further will not affect most of his matchups. Thus, it is the bane of choice.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend +Atk when merging Young Boyd to +10 for similar reasons above.

Young Boyd Strengths

Large War Axe provides multiple effects on odd turns

Young Boyd's Large War Axe grants Atk+3 and has different effects depending on what turn it is.

On even-numbered turns, it grants Atk/Spd+5 during combat, and that's it.

On odd-numbered turns, it grants Atk/Spd+10 instead. It also deals true damage equal to 15% of Young Boyd's Atk on his first attack, and it also neutralizes penalties to Young Boyd's Atk/Spd.

The biorhythm effects lead to Young Boyd being significantly better on odd-numbered turns. As such, he should aim to engage in combat during those turns, and retreat during even-numbered turns.

Heavy reliance on odd-numbered turns

Young Boyd's Large War Axe grants significant effects during odd-numbered turns, making him a powerful unit.

However, on even-numbered turns, his once-powerful weapon becomes mediocre and turns him into a shell of his maximum potential.

Young Boyd is a limited time Hero who can be obtained as a reward for your score in the Tempest Trials. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
