See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Caellach will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Caellach are +Spd and -Res. As an enemy phase unit, Caellach needs to be bulky to take the attacks from foes. His only hindrance in doing so is vulnerability to follow-up attacks because of his low Spd. Thus, +Spd is taken not to score follow-up attacks, but to reduce the number of hostile follow-up attacks he takes. His Res stat is of less importance so it can be safely taken as a bane.
If you prefer a more offensive Caellach, you can take advantage of his superboon and get a +Atk IV instead. Take note that his Spd is also a superboon!
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Caellach to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV at +10 merges, you can reach 35 Spd which is not enough to score frequent follow-up attacks, but it protects him from a lot more follow-up attacks. This increases his survivability by a lot. Again, you can take a +Atk IV if you prefer a more offensive Caellach.

Guard 3

This build capitalizes on Caellach's enemy phase ability with Reprisal Axe and goes 100% on that role! Sturdy Stance 2 and the Quick Ripsote 3 Sacred Seal are also enemy phase exclusive skills so expect him to hit hard when attacked. If you can afford to do so, you can use Sturdy Stance 2. You can also change the C skill if you do not prefer to use his native C skill. Avoid running into ranged opponents as this build does not have Distant Counter on it.

Sol

This is a much expensive build compared to the budget build and its main goal is to turn Caellach into a counter against all kinds of physical foes. Rouse Atk/Def 3 is pretty easy to keep active and as long as it is online, Huge Fan's effects will be online too! This inrcreases his Atk/Def by a lot. Distant Foil further increases Atk/Def against physical opponents and Lull Atk/Def 3 effectively acts as a Atk/Def boost too! At this point, you should already know what this build is all about. Sol provides the sustain necessary to run this frontline build. Finally, Quick Riposte 3 effectively doubles the Atk bonuses and makes sure that every physical unit that attacks Caellach is heavily punished.

Spurn 3

This is a damage reduction build to turn Caellach into a mixed tank. His above average Res stat paired with the Res boost from DIstant Stance and the damage reduction from Spurn keeps him healthy against magic foes.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Caellach is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Reprisal Axe+ grants Caellach +6 Atk if he is attacked by enemies. This makes him an ideal unit in the enemy phase. To capitalize on this enemy phase momentum, you can check out the Budget Caellach build we have posted. It utilizes his native Guard 3 and Even Def Wave 3, but it requires the summoner to inherit Sturdy Stance 2 and get a Quick Riposte 3 Sacred Seal onto him.
You can also opt for a Sturdy Stance 3 if you can afford it.
Guard 3 inflicts special cooldown charge -1 per attack if Caellach's HP ≥ 80% at the start of combat. This allows Caellach and his allies to take less damage from enemies. This skill is also very helpful in Grand Hero Battles where delaying enemy specials is very important as enemy specials in those maps are very powerful.
Additionally, this makes Caellach a great match-up for units running set-ups that make specials very quick to trigger such as Slaying Edge+ or Brave Sword as the weapon skill and slapping Sacred Seals such as Flashing Blade and Quickened Pulse for quick Moonbow or Glimmer activations.
Caellach has low Spd. Even if he is a generally durable unit, red units with high Spd can easily take him down. Be mindful of Caellach's position in relation to units that pose a threat to him!
This is why for our builds, we strongly recommend getting Quick Riposte 3 Sacred Seal, as this is one of the only ways he can score consistent follow-up attacks. It synergizes well with Reprisal Axe+ as both are enemy phase skills.

Caellach can be used to inherit the skill Reprisal Axe+. However, you can only acquire Caellach from Grand Hero Battles or from using Heroic Grails, so think carefully before foddering him off.
