What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Refined Tiger-Eye Axe inflicts stat penalties and Discord onto multiple foes and grants Caellach bonus stats, a guaranteed follow-up attack, bonus damage per attack, and damage reduction and reflection on his foe's first attack. |
Might: 16 Range: 1 At start of turn, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Def-7 and 【Discord】 on closest foes and any foe within 2 spaces of those foes through their next actions. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit and reduces damage from foe's first attack by 30% during combat, and unit's next attack deals damage = 30% of foe's attack damage prior to reductions (resets at end of combat; only highest value applied; does not stack). |
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts Atk by 50%. |
If unit’s HP ≥ 80% at start of combat, enemy is inflicted with Special cooldown charge -1. (If using similar skill, only highest value applied. ) |
At start of even-numbered turns, grants Def +6 to unit and adjacent allies for 1 turn. (Bonus granted to unit even if no allies are adjacent. ) |
Stat | Superboon/Superbane | IV Recommendation |
---|---|---|
HP (19) | ★★☆☆☆ | |
Atk (24) | ★★★★☆ | |
Spd (8) | ★★★★★ | |
Def (7) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Res (9) | ★★☆☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Caellach will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Caellach are +Spd and -Res. As an enemy phase unit, Caellach needs to be bulky to take the attacks from foes. His only hindrance in doing so is vulnerability to follow-up attacks because of his low Spd. Thus, +Spd is taken not to score follow-up attacks, but to reduce the number of hostile follow-up attacks he takes. His Res stat is of less importance so it can be safely taken as a bane.
If you prefer a more offensive Caellach, you can take advantage of his superboon and get a +Atk IV instead. Take note that his Spd is also a superboon!
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Caellach to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV at +10 merges, you can reach 35 Spd which is not enough to score frequent follow-up attacks, but it protects him from a lot more follow-up attacks. This increases his survivability by a lot. Again, you can take a +Atk IV if you prefer a more offensive Caellach.

This build uses high investment to have Caellach be a bruiser unit. His above average Res allows him to survive against magic damage, giving him a niche over similar archetype units.

This budget build increases Atk and Res to take one magic attack and then retaliate and defeat the foe. There are very few budget options for Caellach given his archetype and stat spread, and this gives him a niche over all the other budget Axe Infantry options.
Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type) | |

SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 At start of turn, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Def-7 and 【Discord】 on closest foes and any foe within 2 spaces of those foes through their next actions. If any 【Bonus】 is active on unit or any 【Penalty】 is active on foe, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Spd/Def = highest penalty on each stat between target and foes within 2 spaces of target (calculates each stat penalty independently), unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack, and unit deals damage = 10% of unit's Atk during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). :500 :200 |
|
Refined Tiger-Eye Axe inflicts Atk/Def-7 and 【Discord】 onto the closest foe and nearby foes to the target foe, grants Caellach bonus stats, bonus damage equal to 10% of his Atk, a guaranteed follow-up attack, 30% damage reduction on foe's first attack, damage reflection equal to the amount of damage reduced, and inflicts stat penalties onto his foe based on the highest stat penalties between his foe and nearby foes.
While this refine isn't excellent compared to weapon refines of similar units, it still provides Caellach just enough to remain competitive in battle.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Caellach is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Caellach's base Tiger-Eye Axe inflicts Atk/Def-7 and 【Discord】 onto the closest foe and nearby foes to the target foe, grants Caellach bonus stats, 30% damage reduction on foe's first attack, and damage reflection equal to the amount of damage reduced.
When refined, Tiger-Eye Axe inflicts Atk/Def-7 and 【Discord】 onto the closest foe and nearby foes to the target foe, grants Caellach bonus stats, bonus damage equal to 10% of his Atk, a guaranteed follow-up attack, 30% damage reduction on foe's first attack, damage reflection equal to the amount of damage reduced, and inflicts stat penalties onto his foe based on the highest stat penalties between his foe and nearby foes.
The refine effects granted aren't spectacular, but they still improve Caellach's combat by granting a great stat swing in combat, a guaranteed follow-up attack, and bonus damage per attack. Caellach can function on a budget with or without the refine, but he will not excel compared to modern Axe Infantry units with their own exclusive weapons or weapon refines.
Caellach has low Spd. Even if he is a generally durable unit, red units with high Spd can easily take him down. Be mindful of Caellach's position in relation to units that pose a threat to him!
This is why for our builds, we strongly recommend getting Quick Riposte 3 Sacred Seal, as this is one of the only ways he can score consistent follow-up attacks. It synergizes well with Reprisal Axe+ as both are enemy phase skills.
Caellach is a free-to-play Axe Infantry unit obtainable with Heroic Grails. However, his stat spread isn't favorable compared to other options in the Heroic Grail pool like Fallen Linus who has a better stat spread and a better exclusive weapon.
Caellach's niche over similar units is having an above average Res stat, allowing him to soak up one or two magic attacks from his enemies. If you need a unit in this archetype that can perform this role, then Caellach will be useful. Otherwise, stick to other Axe Infantry options.
Should You Unlock Potential for this Hero? |

We cannot recommend you to Unlock Potential to make Caellach - Tiger Eye a 5 Star Hero. Caellach - Tiger Eye is difficult to make use of except under specific conditions. Unless Caellach - Tiger Eye is a favorite character of yours or you have excess Hero Feathers to spare, we recommend you pass on Unlocking their Potential.

Caellach can be used to inherit the skill Reprisal Axe+. However, you can only acquire Caellach from Grand Hero Battles or from using Heroic Grails, so think carefully before foddering him off.
Caellach is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
