Countermeasures against Frostfang Barioth

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Fire Weapon Frostfang Barioth is weakest against fire.
Recommended Armor Skills
Partbreaker Partbreaker will be extremely helpful against Frostfang Barioth. Breaking both of his fangs will make his breath attacks weaker, and breaking his front legs/wings will make him slower (meaning you will have more openings to attack him).
Evade Window Evade Window adds invincibility frames to your evade, making it easier to dodge Frostfang Barioth's attacks.
Guard Instead of Evade Window, Guard will be more useful to have as a shield user.
Ice Resistance Ice Resistance is important for negating a lot of Frostfang Barioth's damage, as well as the Iceblight he inflicts. Aim to get your Ice Resistance to 20 to get the full effect.
Blight Resistance If you cannot get your Ice Resistance to 20, Blight Resistance at Lvl 3 will prevent Iceblight as well.
Stun Resistance Frostfang Barioth can hit you a lot, especially when you are not used to him. Get Stun Resistance to Lvl 3, just in case.
Health Boost Having more health is always a good thing!
Earplugs Frostfang Barioth has a big roar, so having Earplugs at Lvl 5 can be useful.
Clutch Claw Boost If you have a light weapon that cannot tenderize in one go, it will be helpful to have this, especially since you want to prioritize breaking Frostfang Barioth's fangs and front legs.

How to Beat Frostfang Barioth

Sub-Zero Breath

How to Beat - Frostfang Barioth 1.png
Frostfang Barioth has a significantly higher chance of using its breath attack than the normal Barioth variant. Also, the damage is a lot stronger than the usual, it is recommended that you keep on moving to avoid taking damage.

Frozen Ground

How to Beat - Frostfang Barioth 2.png
Frostfang Barioth will sometimes use the Sub-Zero Breath to freeze the ground making it more difficult to move around during fights. Keep in mind that wearing an Iceproof mantle or rocksteady mantle will not help you in these situations.

Extreme Cold

How to Beat - Frostfang Barioth 3.png
Wandering on a cold environment can give you an Iceblight status which can deplete your stamina way faster than usual. This can be troublesome when fighting against Frostfang Barioth. Be sure to prevent this by using an item called Hot Drink.

Frostfang Barioth Pattern

How to Beat - Frostfang Barioth 4.png
Frostfang Barioth has a powerful air attack that he executes twice. The second air attack is a bit slower than the first one, this will give you more time to prepare to avoid the attack.
