Countermeasures against Furious Rajang

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Ice Weapon Furious Rajang is weakest against ice.
Recommended Armor Skills
Evade Window Evade Window makes avoiding Furious Rajang's attacks much easier, as it gives you extra invincibility frames.
Guard Instead of Evade Window, Guard will be more useful to have as a shield user.
Stun Resistance Furious Rajang is far more aggressive than the normal variant, and it can be too easy to get hit. Plus, Furious Rajang can also give you Thunderblight, making you doubly susceptible to getting stunned. Having Stun Resistance at Lvl 3 will be helpful.
Tremor Resistance Furious Rajang can trigger tremors, which can incapacitate you for some time, so getting Tremor Resistance to Lvl 1 can be useful.
Health Boost Having more health is always a good thing!
Earplugs Furious Rajang has a big roar, so having Earplugs at Lvl 5 should prove useful.
Mind's Eye/Ballistics While you should normally be aiming for Furious Rajang's head, there may be times where you hit other parts of his body and your weapon bounces off. Mind's Eye/Ballistics can prevent this.
Partbreaker When Furious Rajang is fully enraged, going after his head (not the tail, like normal Rajang) will return him to his normal state once you deal enough damage to it. Partbreaker will help you in dealing more damage to it.
Tool Specialist Tool Specialist can help you have your Rocksteady or Temporal Mantle ready for any time you want to tenderize Rajang's head.
Clutch Claw Boost Since grappling onto Rajang's head is quite difficult, Clutch Claw Boost can make the small clutch claw opportunities you have worth it, especially for those with lighter weapons that cannot tenderize in one go.

How to Beat Furious Rajang

Enraged Attacks

How to Beat - Furious Rajang.gif
Getting grabbed by Furious Rajang while fully enraged is a lot more dangerous than being grabbed by the normal Rajang variant. Try to keep your health as high as possible to withstand its full damage. The Furious Rajang is far more stronger and aggressive especially if its fully enraged and covered with lightning.

Prepare for Support

You should prepare a Dust of Life or Health Booster to heal hunters who got grabbed by Furious Rajang to prevent them from carting.

Aim for the Head

Attacking the head can get rid of Furious Rajang's enraged state but it can be dangerous since you will have to fight him head-on. Try to look for opportunities where you can poke Furious Rajang's head without taking damage.

Pitfall Traps

Using Pitfall Traps while Furious Rajang is in his enraged state is a good idea to restrain him. This can give you more time to attack without endangering yourself.

Dealing with the Fireball

Confirmed Attack Patterns

Fire Breath

A straight vertical attack that stops Furious Rajang's movements. This is one of the best time to aim for the head because of the long attack time.
Ground Lightning
How to Beat - Furious Rajang 6.gif
Furious Rajang rolls far back and releases a cone of lightning attack. You can be easily avoided by moving to his side and wait for the lightning to release before engaging.
3 Consecutive Slams
How to Beat - Furious Rajang 7.gif
Furious Rajang can perform three consecutive fast-moving ground attacks that cover a large area. This can be difficult to avoid since you will only have a short window to dodge. When fighting Furious Rajang, try to focus on dodging instead of attacking.

Furious Rajang

On the normal Rajang variant, you can release the Rage by attacking its tail continuously. However, this is not the case for Furious Rajang. You can only release his rage by dealing enough damage to the head.
