Countermeasures against Tigrex

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Thunder Weapon Tigrex is weakest against thunder.
Guard Weapon Tigrex is easier to fight with a guard weapon (lance, gunlance, etc.) since his attacks are all blockable.
Recommended Armor Skills
Evade Window Evade Window makes rolling around to avoid Tigrex's attacks much easier.
Earplugs Tigrex has a big roar, so getting Earplugs to Lvl 5 would be immensely helpful. But Tigrex's roar, when he is enraged, is special in that it does damage and your Earplugs will not negate the damage if you are close to him. So keep an eye out!
Health Boost Having more health is always a good thing!
Stun Resistance You will get hit by Tigrex a lot when you're not used to him yet, so equip some Stun Resistance!
Clutch Claw Boost Double down on an enraged Tigrex's softer arms and head and tenderize them!

How to Beat Tigrex

Charge Attack

How to Beat - Tigrex 1.png
Tigrex's signature move is the charge attack which is a fast-moving attack in a straight line. Tigrex will frequently do this move in Iceborne and it can be dangerous if you get hit. Try to move immediately to the side as soon as he moves forward to avoid this attack.

Also, Tigrex may sometimes do continuous charge attacks and change its direction. You should lock on to Tigrex until he completely stops moving.

Combination of Attacks

Tigrex will sometimes follow-up with a different attack pattern after lunging forward. Try to predict its movements to avoid its combination of attacks.

Charge Attacks

Spin Attack After Tigrex charges, he will sometimes perform a spin attack that covers a large area that can deal massive damage. Wait for Tigrex to completely stop before trying to engage again.
Consecutive Bites Tigrex will sometimes follow up on his charge attack with two consecutive bite attacks in front of him. This can easily be avoided by moving to his sides after the charge.

Restraining Enraged Tigrex

When Tigrex is enraged, this is the best time for you and your fellow hunters to set up traps or use status ailments on him to restrain his movements. While enraged, Tigrex's arms and head will be softer than usual. Focus on these parts and use your most powerful attacks to maximize the damage.

Damage from Roar

How to Beat - Tigrex 2.png
Tigrex will always jump forward before doing his roar, try to keep your distance if you notice that an enraged Tigrex is about to do this move. This can deal a small amount of damage if you are within its range.

Also, using Earplugs will not work against Tigrex if you are nearby once he roars.

Exhausted Tigrex

How to Beat - Tigrex 3.png
In previous Monster Hunter games, there will be times that Tigrex will be exhausted and vulnerable to your attacks. However, in Iceborne, this will only slow down his rush attacks if he gets tired.
