★ 2025/2/28: Monster Hunter Wilds is now available!
Join the hunt at our Monster Hunter Wilds Wiki!

In Monster Hunter World (MHW), as your Hunter Rank (HR) increases, the monsters you face get stronger. Read on to find out more about Tempered Monsters from all threat levels and where you can find their tracks.
List of Contents

Tempered Monsters are stronger versions of their original. Tempered Monsters are categorized according to their Threat Level (1, 2, or 3). The higher the Threat Level of a Tempered Monster, the easier it is to gain better rewards (such as Feystones and Streamstones).
You can tell what a monster's Threat Level is by the amount of fire symbols it has whenever you pick up its tracks, or by a mission's HR requirement.
| Risk Level | HR Required | Monsters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | HR13 | Anjanath, Barroth, etc. |
| 2 | HR30 | Deviljho, Lavasioth, etc. |
| 3 | HR50 | Elder Dragons |
