Countermeasures against Zinogre

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Ice Weapon Zinogre is weakest against ice.
Recommended Armor Skills
Evade Window Evade Window is extremely important against Zinogre's attacks, especially during his enraged, supercharged state.
Guard Instead of Evade Window, Guard will be more useful to have as a shield user.
Stun Resistance Stun Resistance is much more important to have against Zinogre. It makes Thunderblight completely useless since at Lvl 3 it prevents getting stunned (a result from getting hit too many times, which will probably happen against your first Zinogre) altogether.
Quick Sheath Quick Sheath can give you much more time to transition from attacking to Superman diving through Zinogre's big damage attacks.
Thunder Resistance Thunder Resistance can be useful against Zinogre as most of his attacks have thunder damage, though his attacks deal a lot more physical damage than thunder damage.
Health Boost Having more health is always a good thing!
Earplugs Zinogre has a small roar, so having Earplugs at Lvl 3 should be enough.
Clutch Claw Boost Clutch Claw Boost is important for any hunter who uses lighter weapons, as it can make you tenderize in one go.

How to Beat Zinogre

Supercharged State

How to Beat - Zinogre 1.png
Zinogre's supercharged state makes will make him extremely powerful and fast. This will also allow him to perform various combo attacks that can be deadly if you focus on offense.

If you are attacked while Zinogre is in his supercharged state, you will be inflicted with Thunderblight. You can easily deal with this by preparing a Nullberry to remove the ailment.

Prioritize Thunder Resist

Most of Zinogre's attacks will have a Thunder affinity on it. It is best that you build up your Thunder Resistance with your gears. Try to get at least 20 Thunder Resistance to avoid getting stunned. In addition, bringing a Thunderproof Mantle can also help you overcome the Thunder-based attacks if you do not have enough Thunder Resistance.

Prevent Zinogre from Charging

How to Beat - Zinogre 2.png
Zinogre will perform a charging action 3 times before he enters the supercharged state. Be sure to try and flinch Zinogre by attacking his head or front legs while he is charging.

Lightning Attacks

How to Beat - Zinogre 3.gif
Beware of the follow-up lightning attacks when Zinogre performs a combo. This technique can deal massive damage if not dealt with properly. It can be pretty easy to avoid if you are well prepared for his attacks. The lightning attack will always come after he performs the jump attack, use this as a signal to move away before he can execute the attack.

Never Use Shock Traps

Using a Shock Trap against Zinogre will not work and it will only help him charge up his electricity. You can use Pitfall Traps instead if you want to disable his movements.

Collecting Fulgurbugs

How to Beat - Zinogre 4.png
Whenever Zinogre is down, you can approach his backside and use your Capture Net to collect Fulgurbugs. Doing this will reduce Zinogre's electricity build-up when he tries to charge up.
