Head on over to our MHRise Wiki for the latest guides and strategies about all things MHRise!
This is a guide about the Canteen in Monster Hunter World (MHW). Read on to learn general information about the Canteen, how to obtain all the ingredients, which skills they trigger, and more!
List of Contents
The Canteen is an area in Astera (right) and Seliana (left) where hunters can eat meals that provide buffs and skills that last for an entire hunt and will expire once hunters return to their headquarters. Hunters can only eat once before heading out to hunts from their Headquarters. During a hunt or expedition, however, hunters can eat a meal at campsites every 10-15 minutes.
The Gathering Hubs of both Headquarters also have their own Canteens featuring the same ingredients.
Hunters can pay for meals via the following:
Canteen buffs and skill durations can expire prematurely under these conditions:
Hunters can also use the Canteen to Oven Roast various monster parts for Rations and monster-specific items such as Dash Exctracts and Nourishing Extracts.
Hunters can receive their Oven Roast results after returning from a quest or expedition.
The following are additional notes for Oven Roasting:
Every meal provides a +50 stamina cap increase. Other buffs such as Status Effects, Food Skills, and Felyne Skills are all determined by which ingredients were used in a meal.
Fresh ingredients (indicated by food icons with glowing green dust) provide a stacking +10 Health cap increase per fresh Ingredient. This effect is capped at +50 Health for hunters and +20 Health for Palicoes. Fresh ingredients also stackingly increase the activation chances of Food Skills.
Food skills displayed in a meal are determined by which subset of Meat, Fish, Vegetable, or Beverage the used ingredients are in.
The activation chance of a meal determines how likely these Food Skills will activate upon consumption.
