Countermeasures against Silver Rathalos

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Water Weapon Silver Rathalos is weakest against water.
Guard For shield weapons (Lance, Gunlance, etc.), having Guard at Lvl 3 or Lvl 5 (if you have the space) is highly recommended against Silver Rathalos.
Evade Window For the rest of the weapon types, Evade Window and the extra invincibility frames it gives you will be important against Silver Rathalos.
Stun Resistance Silver Rathalos is much more aggressive than Rathalos and Azure Rathalos, so chances are you are going to get stunned easier. Stun Resistance at Lvl 3 is indispensable.
Free Meal When you go up against Silver Rathalos, you can easily run out of Antidote, Herbal Medicine, Max Potions, and Ancient Potions. Getting Free Meal (up to Lvl 3 if you have Free Meal Secret) is a great solution to this.
Earplugs Silver Rathalos has a big roar, so Earplugs Lvl 5 would be immensely helpful.

How to Beat Silver Rathalos

Normal Mode and Hellfire Mode

Normal Mode Hellfire Mode

As the fight goes on against Silver Rathalos, his chest will gradually glow red until he reaches the Hellfire Mode. This mode increases all the capabilities of his fire attacks as well as increases the damage it can deal.

How to Remove Hellfire Mode

Hellfire Mode can be removed by inflicting enough damage to the head. So try to focus the head by using traps or riding Silver Rathalos to deal damage to the head as fast as you can.

Also, take note that this is the only way to remove it. Silver Rathalos' Hellfire Mode will not release on its own.

Dealing with Poison

Silver Rathalos can inflict poison status if you get hit with his talons. It is recommended that you equip gears with at least 3 Poison Resistance to negate this effect. However, if you are not able to equip any Poison Resistance, you can always remove the poison using an Antidote or a Herbal Medicine.

Resisting Fire Damage

How to Beat - Silver Rathalos 2.png
Silver Rathalos can also deal massive damage with his fire attacks. Try to also increase your Fire Resistance with your gears or choose a meal with vegetables as it can also increase your Elemental Resistance. It is best to get at least +20 Fire Resistance to negate most of the fire attacks.

Targeting the Legs and Wings

Aiming for the Legs and the Wings of the Silver Rathalos can greatly increase your damage output. The Legs and the Wings are the softest part the Silver Rathalos has. You can ignore the Head and the Tail if you do not need any of the specific material these parts can drop.

Fire Breath Stepback

How to Beat - Silver Rathalos 3.png
Similar to the normal variant of the Silver Rathalos, he will frequently shoot a large fireball directly in front of him whenever he steps back. Try to position yourself beside the Silver Rathalos and focus on dodging any fire attacks.

Watch Out for the Stomp

Silver Rathalos will sometimes do a stomp attack that targets the surrounding area near the legs. Most of the time you will be staying near the legs. Try to read Silver Rathalos' movements and immediately move away when he jumps.
