Countermeasures against Brute Tigrex

Recommended Weapon Element and Armor Skills

Recommended Weapon Element
Water Weapon Brute Tigrex is weakest against water.
Guard Weapon Like the original version, Brute Tigrex is easier to fight with a guard weapon (lance, gunlance, etc.) since his attacks are all blockable.
Recommended Armor Skills
Tool Specialist Tool Specialist lengthens the time you can use your Rocksteady Mantle and your Temporal Mantle, both of which can make fighting Brute Tigrex a whole lot easier.
Partbreaker Since you want to prioritize breaking Brute Tigrex's head, Partbreaker will be a great addition to your build.
Evade Window Evade Window makes rolling around to avoid Brute Tigrex's attacks much easier; you can also evade to dodge his roars.
Guard Instead of Evade Window, Guard will be more useful to have as a shield user.
Stun Resistance Brute Tigrex is much more aggressive than Tigrex, so you might get hit a lot more. Stun Resistance will be useful for this.
Health Boost Having more health is always a good thing!
Earplugs Earplugs at Lvl 5 will only be effective when you are far away from Brute Tigrex. Using Earplugs versus using Tool Specialist is elaborated upon in the How to Beat Brute Tigrex section.
Clutch Claw Boost If you have a light weapon that cannot tenderize in one go, it will be helpful to have this, especially since you want to prioritize breaking Brute Tigrex's head.

How to Beat Brute Tigrex

Are Earplugs Useful?

How to Beat - Brute Tigrex 1.png
Brute Tigrex will constantly roar during the whole fight, this can deal some damage and literally blow you away if you are within its range. If you are far enough, Brute Tigrex's roar will act like any other big roar, making Earplugs at Lvl 5 useful. This does not really benefit anyone except ranged weapon users, but even then, Brute Tigrex will still chase after you, making your Earplugs useless.

What you really want are the Rocksteady Mantle and the Temporal Mantle, enhanced with the Tool Specialist skill. Rocksteady Mantle will prevent you getting knocked back by his roar, while the Temporal Mantle just straight up evades for you.

You can also dodge his roars, so the Evade Window skill is also a good idea to increase your invincible frames. But it's also just a good skill to have in general.

Weakening the Roar

You can weaken the damage and shorten its range of Brute Tigrex's roars by breaking the head. Try to focus this part to make the hunt easier for the late game.

Evading the Roar

How to Beat - Brute Tigrex 2.png
Brute Tigrex will sometimes do a powerful roar in front of him. This wide cone-shaped roar can deal massive damage if you get hit directly. It is also extremely difficult to dodge even if you strafe left or right. It is best that you immediately get close to him and move to his sides to avoid this attack.
