Practice Mode is a new game mode added to Metroid Dread during the second free update released on April 8, 2022. Read on to learn more about Practice Mode, the bosses you need to fight, its differences from other difficulty modes, and how to unlock it!
Before you can play Practice Mode, you first need to update to the Version 2.1.0 update of the game or later. Practice Mode was added as part of the second free update released on April 8, 2022.
Version 2.1.0 Free Update Patch Notes
The first Practice Mode boss is unlocked after gaining access to Boss Rush Mode. However, you will only be able to practice on Corpious by default. To unlock each individual boss, you will need to reach that point in either Boss Rush or Dread Rush Mode.
To start Practice Mode, hover over either Boss Rush or Dread Rush and press X to see the list of practice bosses available.
Practice Mode allows you to practice defeating each boss in Boss Rush or Dread Rush with the same mechanics as those game modes. However, instead of fighting them consecutively, you can battle them individually and select among the different bosses.
It also tells you by how much time you've gained or lost compared to your best practice run.
List of Bosses and How to Beat: All Boss Guides
Practice Mode is only available for Boss Rush and Dread Rush. The practice challenge will follow the same mechanics as the chosen Rush Mode. You can still use it to practice for other game modes, like Survival Rush, but it will not follow the mechanics of that challenge.
