How to Beat Corpious

Key Strategies

Corpious Boss Tips
✔ Shoot its face to deal damage.

✔ Shoot the glowing orb when it turns invisible.

✔ Shoot the projectiles it spits out for additional ammo and energy orbs.

✔ Cling to the blue magnetic strip to avoid its charge attack and breath attack

The boss battle with Corpious will go through 6 phases, each with its own set of attacks and tricks.

Phase 1 - Direct Damage to Corpious' Face

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Phase 1)
The battle will start with Corpious attempting to hurt Samus with its basic tail attack and muck-like projectiles. At this phase, focus your missiles and fully charged beams on Corpious' face.

Time your dodge carefully to end up under Corpious' tail so that you can continuously shoot its face while it's trying to unlodge its tail from the ground. Another tip is to shoot the projectiles whenever Corpious uses its spit attack to gain additional ammo and energy orbs.

Phase 2 - Shoot the Glowing Orb on its Tail

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Phase 2)
Once you deal enough damage to Corpious in its first phase, a cinematic scene will show Corpious turning invisible. At this phase, Corpious' attack patterns are still the same as Phase 1 but with low visibility of the creature. Its tail, however, will reveal a glowing orb. Aim your missiles at the glowing orb to deal damage to Corpious.

Phase 3 - Slide Under Corpious to Reach Its Face

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Phase 3)
After dealing enough damage to Corpious in invisible mode, a cinematic scene will start again, this time showing Corpious becoming visible once more with its backside facing Samus. In this phase, Corpious will prepare its tail to slam Samus. While it's preparing, slide under Corpious to face it again and start firing its face once more.

Phase 4 - Use the Spider Magnet to Avoid the Breath Attacks

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Phase 4)
Phase 4 is similar to Phase 1 but with additional attacks. Corpious will now unleash its breath attack and charge attack at Samus. There will be a blue magnetic strip on the right wall at this phase so make use of it to dodge these new attacks.Avoid clinging to the strip for too long. If you cling on the strip longer than intended, Corpious will stab Samus with its tail.

Phase 5 - Focus on Damaging the Glowing Orb on its Tail

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Phase 5)
Phase 5 is similar to Phase 4 but it will turn invisible once more. Again, aim your cannon at the glowing orb near its tail to deal damage.

Final Phase - Continue Blasting through the Dynamic Cutscene

Metroid Dread - Corpious (Final Phase)
Similar to Phase 3, Corpious will turn its backside to Samus again. Slide under it and the game will switch to a cinematic camera angle.

You remain in full control of Samus during this segment, so keep shooting and dealing acrobatic attacks to Corpious until he is defeated.
