Key Strategies

Keep Your Distance With Flash Shift

When you see the Chozo Soldier jump on the wall, get ready to Flash Shift on the ground. When you see the Chozo Soldier ready its spear on the ground, quickly jump and flash shift away in the air. Performing a wall jump before using Flash Shift will ensure you will dodge the attack.

The Chozo Soldier will occassionaly jump up to the nearest wall followed by a downward strike of his spear. Make sure you have enough room to dodge sideways as he dives into the air.

Use Missiles for Maximum Damage

Once again, spamming your missiles here will be the most effective weapon against these quick enemies. Learn to time his landings and counter the Chozo Soldier after it lands or attacks.

Attack Shielded Soldiers After They Attack or Jump

Red Chozo Soldiers and the Gold Chozo Soldier will be equipped with shields. Their shields are extremely durable and will block most attacks. Time your attacks right after they jump or attack to land a hit.

Disarm Their Shields with a Melee Counter

As the Shielded Chozo Soldiers prepare for a Shield Bash, there will be an opportunity to Melee Counter when they firmly place their shield in front of them.

Catch them off guard with a well-timed Melee Counter to disarm their shields.This gives you a chance to recover Missiles and Energy while also making the rest of the battle easier.

Break Shields with Storm Missiles

Alternatively, you can brute force your way through the Shielded Chozo Soldier's defenses. At the cost of multiple Storm Missiles, you can wear down and tear down the Red Chozo Soldier's shields.

Disarm the Elite Chozo Soldier with the Grapple Beam

For the Elite Chozo Soldier, Storm Missiles will be ineffective and a Melee Counter on its own won't be enough. Prepare to pull the shield away with the Grapple Beam after a succesful Melee Counter.

Avoid the Black Sludge Attacks by Jumping

After enough damage is dealt, Chozo Soldiers will turn into their X-Parasite monster form for the last half of each fight. The strategy mostly remains the same, but their black sludge attacks do tons of damage. Jump into the air to avoid them.

Land Both Melee Counters as a Finisher

As a final attempt, the X-Parasite infected Chozo Soldier will attempt to stab you. This will trigger a Melee Counter sequence where you have to counter twice. Successfully land the Melee Counters to eliminate the enemy.

Chozo Soldiers Attack Patterns

Spear Attacks

Single Twirl to an Upper Strike

From a standing position, the Chozo Soldier will twirl his spear before attacking with an upward strike. Flash Shift overhead to avoid it.

Diving Strike

The Chozo Soldier will jump onto the wall before leaping to your location. Be quick to flash sideways to avoid being crushed.

When the X-Parasite overpowers the Chozo Soldier, he will perform his diving attack towards the middle of the room before sending out a shockwave across the floor. Stay near the corners before jumping over the shockwave.

Backflip to a Forward Strike

When the X-Parasite overpowers the Chozo Soldier, his spear attack will have more flourish. The soldier will backflip before rushing into a forward strike. Flash Shift overheard to avoid it.

Melee Counter Opportunity

As a final attempt, the X-Parasite infected Chozo Soldier will attempt to stab you. This will trigger a Melee Counter sequence where you have to counter twice. Successfully land the Melee Counters to eliminate the enemy.

Projectile Attacks

Black Ooze Spray

When the X-Parasite overpowers the shielded variants of the Chozo Soldiers, they gain a new attack where they are able to spew a black ooze in strong jet blasts. Move away from where the attack is targeted to avoid damage.

Shield Attacks

Shield Bash

Shielded Variants of the Chozo Soldier will slam their shield into the ground before rushing forward. This attack can be melee countered to disarm them. You may also avoid it by jumping overhead.
