After defeating the Blue EMMI and earning the Ice Missile, head to the marked spot in the southeast section of Ferenia to face against Escue.

Escue's boss room can be accessed by breaking several blocks along the way. You can shoot beams at the floor to reveal the location, or use the Pulse Radar to detect the breakable blocks.

How to Beat Escue

Video Boss Fight Guide

The strategy shown in the video requires obtaining the Screw Attack upgrade early in the game.

How to Get Early Screw Attack

Key Strategies

Escue Boss Tips
Avoid the Purple Energy attacks from Escue.

Shoot Escue with Missiles when the electricity surrounding Escue dissipates.

Once it transforms, collect X-Parasites to recover.
Pro Tip: Start the Battle with a Shinespark.

Avoid the Purple Energy

Escue's main mode of attack is a ranged energy projectile. The purple balls of energy linger after landing on the floor before sending out a shockwave. Jump to avoid damage from it. Also, be sure to avoid the energy ball itself, as it will deal quite a bit of damage to Samus.

Escue can also send out a barrage of purple energy spikes that home in on Samus' position. These are a bit trickier to avoid, but thankfully don't deal as much damage. Make use of the Space Jump ability to dodge away from this attack.

Shoot with Ice Missiles and Charge Beams

While avoiding the Purple Energy, keep your cannon trained on to Escue. After Escue attacks, the electric energy surrounding it will dissapear, making it vulnerable to attack. With its shields down, Ice Missiles and Charge Beam shots will do more damage, but once again, missiles will be your quickest option for taking down Escue.

Avoid Contact with the X-Parasite Form

Once enough damage has been dealt, Escue will transform into its X-Parasite form, very similar to bosses from Metroid Fusion. Like the ones from Metroid Fusion, this form will be invulnerable to attacks for a brief time after getting hit once.

During this, be sure to avoid contact with it as it will deal damage. Instead, try to absorb the many X Parasites coming out of it to restore your heatlh.

Pro Tip: Start the Battle With a Shinespark

Dread - Shinespark vs Escue.gif
Although a bit challenging to pull off, entering the room with a Speed Booster followed by a direct hit of Shinespark dramatically shortens the battle against Escue.

If you successfully execute this move, it will only take 6-8 direct hits of the Ice Missile to trigger Escue's transformation to the X-Parasite form. This technique can be really useful for Speedrunners as well.

Escue Attack Patterns

Melee Attacks

Forward Charge

Escue will tuck in its legs before charging at top speed towards Samus. A pre-emptive jump should be enough to avoid damage.

Projectile Attacks

Purple Energy Ball

Dread - Escue - Purple Energy Ball Wall.gif
Escue sends out a slow-moving Purple Energy Ball directed at Samus. Avoid it by repositioning away from it. If the energy ball hits the wall, the energy dissipates.

Dread - Escue - Purple Energy Ball Floor.gif
However, if the purple energy ball hits the floor, an electric shockwave will cover the floor momentarily. Stay in the air longer with your Space Jump or Flash Shift to wait for the electricity to disappear.

Purple Energy Spikes

Escue can also send out a barrage of purple energy spikes that home into Samus' position. These are a bit trickier to avoid, but thankfully don't deal as much damage. Make use of the Space Jump ability to dodge away from this attack.

Your article says to use Space Jump to avoid the projectiles, but how do you get Space Jump before this? You need Storm Missiles to get Space Jump, and you need to beat Escue to get Storm Missiles first.

Speed boost into the boss room and spineshark Escue. It feels like it's taking too long and it may take a time or two to get your timing and position correct, but this takes a huge chunk of Escue's energy and will cut in half the time to get to the Parasite-X stage.
