Missile Tanks / Energy Tanks / Power Bomb Tanks
The melee counter ability returns again in Metroid Dread. This guide will cover how to successfully parry enemies with the melee counter and tips and tricks on parrying.
List of Contents
Enemies will indicate right before they can be parried with a white light and sound cue. Learning to recognize these cues is key to pulling off a successful melee counter.
EMMI can also be melee countered, but it is extremely difficult. When Samus confronts an EMMI, there will be two chance to counter. One, will be when the EMMI first reaches for Samus, and the next will be when it attemps to stab her. For both of these, listen for the EMMI to make a sound cue and glow red. The instant it begins to attack, you have to press X to parry it.
EMMI change up their timing, making their attacks impossible to accurately predict.
EMMI Guide: How to Beat and Counter EMMIs
Every enemy in Metroid Dread has their own unique timing to parry. Trying to melee counter all enemies the same way will result in failure. Be patient, watch, and learn when an enemy goes to attack. Some will be instant, and others will have a delay. Mastering this timing is key to mastering melee counters.
