How to Unlock Dread Rush Mode

Update to Version 2.1.0

Before you can play Dread Rush Mode, you first need to update to the Version 2.1.0 update of the game or later. Dread Rush Mode was added as part of the second free update released on April 8, 2022.

Beat the Game in Dread Mode

Metroid Dread Dread Rush Mode Unlock

Dread Rush Mode is unlocked after completing the game in Dread Mode. Since Dread Mode is only unlocked after Hard Mode, you must have completed the game at least thrice to unlock it. If you have already completed Dread Mode before the release of the update, this mode is unlocked immediately after updating.

To start playing the game, press the R button while on the main menu screen and select Dread Rush.

Dread Rush Mode has almost exactly the same mechanics as Boss Rush. You will need to challenge each of the 12 bosses continuously with the goal of getting the fastest time possible.

Just like Boss Rush Mode, your ammo is also replenished after each boss fight.

The main difference of this game mode compared to Boss Rush is that you receive a game over after only one hit from a boss or its projectiles, just like Dread Mode. This also means that recovering health is not necessary in this mode.

Before you begin a Dread Rush playthrough, it is recommended that you first hone your skills in Practice Mode. In this mode, you can battle each boss individually and compare your current run with your best time.
