After entering Cataris, leave the elevator room by breaking down the Beam Blocks to the left. Proceed to the first Network Station in Cataris to talk to Adam and receive another briefing.
After your talk with Adam, you need to proceed to the EMMI Zone in Cataris. Before you can enter the EMMI Zone, you will need to activate the Thermal Fuel Switch found on the map. This will open up the Thermal Doors leading the EMMI Zone.
Once you activate the switch, you can make your way to the EMMI Zone and encounter the Green EMMI. Dodge your way through the EMMI and continue through the map.
Cataris has several switches and buttons that open up different areas of the map. To find the shuttle to Dairon, you will need to activate many of these interactables and explore different rooms.
Once you arrive on Dairon, you will eventually encounter a series of dark rooms where many doors remain inactive. To restore power to the area, you will need to find the generator room and activate the generator.
Once you have found the shuttle to Dairon, explore the new area until you reach a set of rooms with a power outage. After returning the power to the rooms, you can access the Wide Beam.
After getting the Wide Beam, you will now need to go back to Cataris and beat the Green EMMI to get the Morph Ball upgrade.
Step-By-Step Walkthrough | |
---|---|
1 | Make your way to Cataris to fight the Green EMMI. With the new Wide Beam upgrade, you will now be able to open new doors and remove Wide Beam Boxes. Use this to make your way back to the Cataris Shuttle. |
2 | Make your way to the Cataris Central Unit. Again, you will need to use your new Wide Beam upgrade to access Wide Beam covered doors. |
As you make your way back to Cataris, you will also need to pass through the Dairon EMMI Zone where you will encounter the Yellow EMMI. Weave and dodge your way through the EMMI to get back to the shuttle.
With the Wide Beam at your disposal, you can overcome more obstacles and open up a path to the Central Unit. Destroy the Central Unit to obtain the Omega Cannon and use it to destroy the Green EMMI and obtain the Morph Ball upgrade.
Step-By-Step Walkthrough | |
---|---|
1 | Access the Red Teleportal With the Morph Ball upgrade, Samus can now take the narrow path through the alien statue leading to the Red Teleportal, which takes Samus back to Artaria. Alternatively, you can also take the elevator back to Artaria instead. |
2 | Take the Northwest Path The Morph Ball upgrade also opens up a new path to the northwest of Artaria. After following this path, you will find another Thermal Energy Switch. |
3 | Activate the Thermal Fuel Switch After activating the switch, several traps will activate and the northern side of Artaria will start to crumble. A new path will also open up leading further north. |
4 | Obtain the Varia Suit Follow the new path to a room containing the Varia Suit upgrade. The Varia Suit upgrade allows Samus to access the warmer areas of the map. |
5 | Return to Cataris and Defeat Kraid With the Varia Suit upgrade, Samus can take the Red Teleportal back to Cataris and head south to battle Kraid. |
Once you have obtained the Varia Suit, use the Red Teleportal to return to Cataris. Travel through the hot areas of the map until you reach the room containing Kraid. Defeat Kraid to progress through the story.
After exiting the room containing Kraid, you can find the Diffusion Beam in a barricaded room. Use a Missile to break through the Missile Cover and obtain the Diffusion Beam.
When you first enter Cataris, you will need to shoot through the hidden beam block to the left to proceed through the level.
Thermal Fuel Switches allow you to open up new areas of the map by opening Thermal Doors. However, activating these switches also close off some areas of the map, which force you to find new paths. Once a switch is activated, it cannot be deactivated.
Cataris is one of the larger maps in the game, making progression sometimes difficult. To progress through the game, you will need to travel to Dairon by following the steps in the table.
Step-By-Step Walkthrough | |
---|---|
1 | Activate the Engine inside the Room Inside the room indicated in the map above, you will find a button that will activate an engine. The engine will remove both the lava and the heat from the room outside. |
2 | Return to Energy Recharge Station After activating the engine, you can return to the energy recharge station by following the path in the map. |
3 | Destroy the Beam Blocks Above the Recharge Stations are a few hidden Beam Blocks. Climb up the ledge and hang on the magnetic strips to destroy the blocks above. |
4 | Enter the Drained Room Once the blocks are destroyed, you can enter the room you just drained where you will find a magnetic platform. |
5 | Pull down the Magnetic Platform Use Spider Magnet to cling on to the platform and pull it downwards. |
6 | Make Your Way to the Room Above Once the platform is lowered, you can now access the path to the room above. After activating the Thermal Fuel Switch, you can access the path to the shuttle to Dairon. |
