Boss Rush Mode is a new game mode added to Metroid Dread during the second free update released on April 8, 2022. Read on to learn more about Boss Rush Mode, the bosses you need to fight, its differences from other difficulty modes, and how to unlock it!
List of Contents
Before you can play Boss Rush Mode, you first need to update to the Version 2.1.0 update of the game or later. Boss Rush Mode was added as part of the second free update released on April 8, 2022.
Version 2.1.0 Free Update Patch Notes
Boss Rush Mode is unlocked after completing the main game at least once in any of the starting difficulties. If you have previously finished the game before the release of Version 2.1.0, the mode is unlocked upon updating the game.
To start playing the game, press the R button while on the main menu screen and select Boss Rush.
Difficulty Mode Differences: How to Change Difficulty Settings
Boss Rush Mode is a completely separate mode from most of the other difficulty modes in Metroid Dread. In this mode, you will need to challenge each of the 12 bosses of the game continuously, one after another, in the order you would encounter them in the game with the goal of achieving the fastest time.
If Samus is defeated, you can retry a boss fight, but receive a time penalty. Exiting Boss Rush at any point in the middle of the run will reset your progress.
List of Bosses and How to Beat: All Boss Guides
Samus cannot replenish her health in between each boss, which means that you will need to be careful and conserve her energy. However, her ammo stock is fully restocked at the start of each battle and you can still recover health by attacking the boss and its projectiles.
Before you begin a Boss Rush playthrough, it is recommended that you first hone your skills in Practice Mode. In this mode, you can battle each boss individually and compare your current run with your best time.
Practice Mode Differences and How to Unlock
Though it was announced during the release of the first free update, Boss Rush Mode and the other features of the second free update were not released until April 8, 2022.
