This is a troubleshooting guide to solve the problems of the Marvel's Avengers game, such as being unable to use early access. Read on if you're having problems accessing the game!

Issue: Cannot Play Early Access With Deluxe Edition

If you cannot play the early access despite ordering the Deluxe Edition, you aren't alone, as this is a common problem. According to official sources, this may happen when you first purchase the original edition (which has no early access), and then purchase the Deluxe Edition at a later date. This will then prioritize the earlier purchase's access date.

A possible workaround for PS4 is to go to Library, then under the Purchased menu look for Marvel's Avengers, select it, and press the Download button.

Issue: Multiplayer Not Working

If the multiplayer is not working, there are multiple reasons why this could not work.

Server is Down

If the server is down, there's not much you can do except wait. Make sure to check Marvel's Avengers official status updates to know when servers go down!

Game Needs an Update

Only a fully updated game can access multiplayer. Make sure to check for updates in the event that multiplayer does not work for you. If you've already downloaded the update, you may need to close the game so that you can install it.

Issue: Cannot Connect To Server

Check If Square Enix Servers are Down

Due to the demand of the game, sometimes the servers go down under the strain. Make sure to check Marvel's Avengers official status updates to know when servers go down!

Check Your Internet Connection

Sometimes, the connection is in your end. Make sure to restart your router, check your connection and your modem, especially if it seems that Square Enix servers are up. For best performance, we recommend playing with an ethernet cable.

Issue: Matchmaking Taking Too Long

The game is currently experiencing matchmaking issues due to high demand, so matchmaking can take a long time to load or even fail altogether. There is a workaround however. In the Quinjet, before selecting a mission, invite your friends and disable matchmaking once the you're all in.

Issue: PC Performance Is Slow

The PC performance may be lacking despite meeting the requirements. While they improve PC performance, here are a couple of things you can do.

  • Disable Dynamic Resolution
  • Disable G-Sync in your monitor
  • Disable Steam Overlay while in-game

Known Issues and Workarounds

Crystal Dynamics are aware of certain bugs and issues that they have not fixed, but have workarounds for them. Below is the list of these issues and what you should do according to them.

Known Issues
  • Falling Out of World when Entering the Avengers Initiative: This infrequently presents as a partially loaded Helicarrier and results in characters infinitely falling out of world. We are actively working towards a fix. If you encounter this issue, please first try the new backup save option. If that doesn’t work, as a potential workaround:
  1. Have a friend who is also in the Avengers Initiative invite you to their Strike Team.
  2. Have your friend queue up for a mission with you in the team then launch it.
  3. You may spawn in a different location than your friend. If this happens, have your friend Reload Checkpoint
  4. Complete the mission
  5. After the mission, exit to the Main Menu.
  6. Enter the Avengers Initiative again and Reload Checkpoint
  • Character Duplication/Swaps on Golden Gate Bridge: This presents as a rare bug with late-game campaign players, where they are loaded into the Golden Gate Bridge as the wrong character. We are actively working towards a fix. If you encounter this issue, please first try the new backup save option.   • “House Call” cannot be Completed: This presents as an occasional bug with the bridge in the mission “House Call”. We are actively working towards a fix.   • Character Duplication/Swaps on Golden Gate Bridge: This presents as a rare bug with late-game campaign players, where they are loaded into the Golden Gate Bridge as the wrong character.   • “House Call” cannot be Completed: This presents as an occasional bug with the bridge in the mission “House Call”. We are actively working towards a fix.   • Unlocked Outfits Reverting to Locked State: This presents to some players as costumes that were previously unlocked through campaign progress reverting to a locked state, which may be due to previewing outfits. Exiting to Main Menu and relaunching should return the missing outfits to your inventory.   • Community Challenges not updating in real time: While progress is not appearing in-game, it is still being tracked on our end. We are working to optimize the system and implement a fix so that players can see their combined progress in real-time!
  • Credits sometimes do not appear when purchased: This can be due to a delay on the server side with increased load. If this happens, first try exiting and relaunching the game. If the issue persists, please contact customer support so they can pull up your account and investigate! support.square-enix-games.com

I purchased the regular edition and then decided to purchase the exclusive digital edition for early access and for some reason it’s now allowing me to play. Still says content is locked. Did the suggested library work around, no luck. Any tips?
