Avengers Game Multiplayer Guide: How to Unlock Multiplayer and Play With Friends

This is a guide on how to play online multiplayer with friends in the Marvel's Avengers game. Read on to find out how to unlock multiplayer and how to invite people to play with you.

How to Play Multiplayer With Friends

Method 1: Invite Friends Social Tab

Step 1: Access the Character Menu

When you access the hero menu from the hub, there is a Socials Tab. You can go there to view your current strike team or invite friends to your strike team. You cannot invite people in the middle of missions.

Step 2: Select the Blank Space

You will see your hero banner along with your level and power, and there should be blank rectangles underneath for every open slot. Put your cursor over it and press confirm.

Step 3: Choose Friends

Choose which friends to invite. The must be added on PSN (PS4) or Steam (PC) in order to be able to invite them.

Method 2: Invite Friends Via War Table

Step 1: Access The War Table

Access the War Table from whichever outpost you are currently at (Chimera, Ant Hill, Quinjet).

Step 2: Select A Mission

Once you select a mission, a menu will pop up showing all current players in-game, and two options to select hero/companions and launch the missions.

Step 3: Select the Blank Space

You will see your hero banner along with your level and power, and there should be blank rectangles underneath for every open slot. Put your cursor over it and press confirm.

Step 4: Choose Friends

Choose which friends to invite. The must be added on PSN (PS4) or Steam (PC) in order to be able to invite them.

How To Unlock Multiplayer

Avengers Initiative

The Avengers Initiative is a post-campaign multiplayer mode that allows you to take on a variety of missions. This allows you to take on a full-stack of four heroes from any available heroes in all missions.

This mode is unlocked from the start, but it contains story spoilers.

Campaign

There are some levels you cannot play multiplayer in, but on levels with two or more heroes available in a mission, you should be able to invite players to join your campaign mission. You can play multiplayer during and after the Missing Links mission, but some missions after cannot be played in multiplayer.

Avengers Split Screen (Local Co-op) Multiplayer

While many fans may have been hoping for split screen so that they could enjoy multiplayer with a friend on one console, unfortunately, you cannot play couch coop or split screen with someone on the same console. You can only play Marvel's Avengers online when playing multiplayer.

It is unknown if split screen multiplayer (couch co op) will be added as a feature in the future, but at the moment, it seems unlikely.
